“A wonderful place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

A very welcoming B&B with nice, spacious rooms, meticulously clean. Steve and Jordy are wonderful hosts. Their knowledge of their city and surrounding areas was very helpful and I still miss the delicious breakfast that we were served in the morning. It is obvious that they put a lot of thought into the details. Great location that is in downtown Merida within walking distance of museums, landmarks, restaurants, etc. Would highly recommend to anyone. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: There can't be a bad room in the place! Even though we were in the room closest to the lobby, we...

Brand new B&B...well built as we never heard the other guests in their rooms. Very attentive hosts. Walked everywhere or used local transportation. Great bed linens and comfortable beds with plenty of outdoor tables if you wanted to use their Wi-Fi or just be outside. Nice big shower with plenty of hot water. We often sat poolside after a long day of walking. AC in the rooms along w/ ceiling fans and windows that opened for ventilation. Breakfast plentiful. Great coffee--- Note the rooms looked exactly like the photos on their website which was wonderful to see. We wish them much success....

Room Tip: We had a room way in the back but traveling in Mexico there are still dogs barking, fireworks, etc...

This B&B also deserves a spot on our list of favourate B&B's.
It is nice to start the day with a fabulous breakfast.
This was my first time in Mexico and my knowledge of the Spanish language is not exsistant.
So it is nice to stay in a place where the hosts speak fluent English.
We spent the first week in a Mayan Riviera Resort and the 2nd week in Merida.
I wished we stayed with English speaking hosts first, so the advice they were able to give us would be even more useful.
And they have a small swimming pool for those hot days.

This new bed and breakfast has it all -- it is close to the historic center of Merida. The rooms are modern, well decorated, clean and cozy. Breakfast is delicious and the pool/grounds are lovely. Jordy and Steve are perfect hosts -- conscientious, attentive, articulate and knowledgable. I would HIGHLY recommend this B&B. Also, we were two women traveling together and we felt perfectly safe. We enjoyed the zocalo, Paseo Montejo and a day trip to Uxmal from here. A great find!

We were fortunate enough to be the first guests welcomed by the brand new Casa del Maya in beautiful Merida, Mexico. This 6-room colonial home is located about 7 minutes from Centro, the historic center of Merida. It has been beautiful restored and expanded by the charming and thoughtful owners, Jordy and Steve. A charming blend of historic details and new embellishments, it features incredibly comfortable bedding and linens, very good air conditioning and natural ventilation, and plenty of hot water and great water pressure.

The landscaping is still filling in, but the courtyard area has a small pool and several chaises for sunbathing or relaxing. Jordy is an excellent cook and provides a full breakfast each morning starting with yogurt and fresh fruit, assorted breads and homemade pastries with a special hot entree each morning. His french toast casserole and southern recipe was delicious as well as all the other offerings..

Free parking was available curbside just outside the door and the area is safe - a mixture of renovated buildings and many "works in progress." If anything, this adds to the area's charm. The hosts were very helpful in providing directions and restaurant recommendations and spent lots of time discussing the history of Merida, the Casa, and many other things!

Any concern or issue was immediately remedied by the owners, and the attention to detail was impressive. For a new property, Casa del Maya was amazingly free of glitches and I can only imagine how even more beautiful it will be next time we visit, which is a guarantee!

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful and well designed, but the Chaac room on the first floor of the new addition...
