“An eclectic charmer combines old world architecture with today's art”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2009

A feast for the artistic eye. You'll find a wide variety of artforms here, in virtually every nook and cranny of the place. This, combined with the tropical plants and birds, antique
furniture, and colonial Mexican architecture, makes for a veritable undiscovered treasure.
Add to this the low rate, a helpful staff, and convenient location in the heart of Merida,
makes the Galeria a place not to be missed. Take your camera!

We stayed here for two nights in May. Front desk was helpful with planning tours and advising on eateries. took pesos and dollars. Breakfasts are huge and cheap on upstairs, outdoor patio. Ask to see the rooms first, can be musty if downstairs. Three blocks from main square makes it close enough to walk, but away from the Sunday late night live music scene, if you want quiet. Heard the galeria is much nicer than the regular Hotel Trinidad.

We have been staying in the La Galeria throughout the years, but unfortunately, the quality has gone down to a bad state. Half the staff are very helpful, however the the other half will actively ignore you. Paying your bill can be challenging at times. The hotel's policy now is : They will not accept Credit Cards of any-types, no traveller's checks, nor American dollars. You have to pay in Pesos Mexicano's only. Another issue is Hot-Water, as it does not exists anymore. Several of the hot-water tanks are not working at all, so the few tiny hot water tanks that are working are serving numerous rooms. Another problem is the trash laying about. We found shrads of broken glass laying on the sidewalk, and was never removed throughout our staying. The last straw was the buckets of pool chemicals just sitting there on the edge of the swimming pool with the warning stickers quite bold. In our own opinions just pay a few more pesos and stay at the Hotel Caribe in the Park Hidalgo. Best-Wishes and Good Travels, Jethrot1

Me and my wife we stayed at this hotel just for one night on the way from Cancun to Palenque. Hotel looks a little strange - many arts, painting, sculptures, small fountains etc. If you have an artistic soul you may like it. The room was pretty big, with a big bed but there were a few things that made me run away on the next day:
- room was cold
- strange window which you can't close, to the road (you feel like you sleep on a road)
- many mosquitos in the room (even if we had mosquito net on the window)
- small lizard sleeping with us in the room
- bathroom was below the belt - water pouring very slowly and no hot water and windows to the inner part where everyone can see you. We asked for help and one man came and tried to do something but it didnt' help.

The reception guy talks just a little english. Generally I recommend to look around for some other hotel - you can find many others without any problem in Merida.

Trinidad Galeria was the worst exprience we had in Mexico. The beds are very bad, no window in the room, no hot water, even the toilet broke... The staff was not friendly, even not interested in our complaints. Only a few rooms downstairs are more ore less ok, but also this rooms are not worth the (budget ) price. After one night we decided to look for another place to stay. Every place around in the same price category is much nicer. We went finaly to hotel Santa Lucia, only 500 meters away. This one is very recomended!

I fell under the spell of the website, but the property leaves much to be desired. I was offered a pick of rooms - a tiny airless one, or a larger one. Both had scary (stained and buggy) showers and the room was secured on the inside by a lock designed for bathroom stalls.

The pool looked great and the staff was friendly, but we moved somewher else the next day.

We stayed at Trinidad Galeria for the budget prize. This is a cheap hotel and a very unique one. Arriving at night is quite spooky as the art gallery is everywhere and very extravagant. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly as all the people in Merida (big change when you go to Cancun!) It is in a great location, you can walk to downtown. Our room was ok. We were glad we had nice weather as we asked for a room with a fan and no AC. The fan was a small table fan.. so I am glad we didnt had hot weather! The water reservoir was just outside the room so we could here the motor of the bomb and the water falling, so ask for a room away from this! The huge windows (near the ceiling, we couldnt see the ground floor) of the bathroom had no curtains and were facing directly to another part of the hotel... not very good for privacy. We did our booking by email and we didnt need to pay in advance or a credit card.
