We have just returned from a 7 day stay in the Yucatan. We arrived at Cancun, rented a car and drove to Valladolid where we spent the first night. We then drove to Merida, stopping at Chichen Itza along the way, (this had been recommended by Iona, the owner of Hacienda San Pedro Nohpat). I can't say enough about Iona and JR and the wonderful experience we had during the 4 nights that we stayed at their beautiful Hacienda. The swimming pool area is just perfect, surrounded by beautiful gardens. We hated to leave it inspite of all the terrific sightseeing that awaited us outside the walls of this beautiful retreat. The rooms are lovely, the beds very comfortable and the thickness of those old walls keep the rooms quiet and cool. The service was the best we have received anywhere on our travels. But the most impressive part of this whole experince was the personalized service that Iona gives to each of her guests. We can hardly wait to go back and would highly recommend this " little jewel" to anyone planning a trip to Mexico. Treat yourself, leave the coast, travel inland to this wonderful place. After leaving there, we travelled to Isla Mujeres where we stayed for 2 nights, right on the beach, but our time at Hacienda Nohpat far surpassed the time there.
