What a treat to sample the life which must have existed over the last four hundred years at Hacienda San Pedro. The room was great with a pool just steps away. The thirsty traveler was treated to an perfect frozen margarita. Iona was super with excellent suggestions for what to do in and around Merida. The breakfasts on the porch were enchanting and the food excellent. One day after a big lunch in the city Iona suggested a roast beef sandwich instead of a dinner and she made it to perfection. Village life which surrounded the hacienda was interesting to watch. We would go back in a minute and the only change we'd make would be to stay longer.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Hacienda San Pedro Nohpat. The rooms are large, the grounds are lovely and the owners made us feel at home. Hacienda is just outside Merida and it was an excellent base for our tours.
The personalized service and warm hospitality made our stay unforgettable.
Thank you Iona and J.R. Hope to see you again.

Our initial impression of the hacienda was mixed, it was still having work done but the overall appearance was nice. The weather was extremely humid during our stay and the pool was quite cloudy. I felt our room was adequate but nothing special. The bathroom was small and not extremely clean. The shower did not drain properly and the plastic curtain was torn. Topping everything off, it rained buckets the last two days and water leaked down the wall behind the beds. Our hosts were pleasant and accomodating. The staff(?) was shall I say, almost nonexistant. It was not a great experience but not really terrible either...it was very inexpensive, hence coining the phrase, you get what you pay for.

From the owners to the swimming pool to the beautiful gardens (not to mention sweet little Goldie - our 4-legged friend who guarded our door every night), we had a lovely experience at Hacienda San Pedro Nohpat. We felt we were in our own hacienda and were treated as special guests. The swimming pool and surrounding areas were directly outside of our door. The a/c in our room worked great. The breakfast and dinner was delicious. I am now addicted to yogurt and fruit for breakfast. The coffee was yummy. Our housekeeper was meticulous. The hot water was perfect. Parking/access was great. The gardens, parrots and turtle were unforgettable. The location was easy access to downtown Merida but away from the hustle of the city which was perfect for my husband, myself and 4 year old. Merida is a great city to enjoy, wonderful people, low traffic and easy access to the ruins and Progreso. Highly recommend San Pedro Nohpat and will definitely return! (Don't forget insect repellant, which is just a part of visiting the Yucatan!!)

We have just returned from a 7 day stay in the Yucatan. We arrived at Cancun, rented a car and drove to Valladolid where we spent the first night. We then drove to Merida, stopping at Chichen Itza along the way, (this had been recommended by Iona, the owner of Hacienda San Pedro Nohpat). I can't say enough about Iona and JR and the wonderful experience we had during the 4 nights that we stayed at their beautiful Hacienda. The swimming pool area is just perfect, surrounded by beautiful gardens. We hated to leave it inspite of all the terrific sightseeing that awaited us outside the walls of this beautiful retreat. The rooms are lovely, the beds very comfortable and the thickness of those old walls keep the rooms quiet and cool. The service was the best we have received anywhere on our travels. But the most impressive part of this whole experince was the personalized service that Iona gives to each of her guests. We can hardly wait to go back and would highly recommend this " little jewel" to anyone planning a trip to Mexico. Treat yourself, leave the coast, travel inland to this wonderful place. After leaving there, we travelled to Isla Mujeres where we stayed for 2 nights, right on the beach, but our time at Hacienda Nohpat far surpassed the time there.
