“Grutas Maximus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

I saw this cave reviewed on TA and was not sure we would find it but really wanted to go. Luckily we had a tour guide (Luis - Mayan Expeditions) who remembered it when he was a kid. Less than an hour after leaving Kabah (I believe it was) and a short bumpy road we were climbing down the ladder into the cave. Since not dressed for grubby fun we settled for the tame family tour which was still very cool. Do Not Go if you are worried about dirt.
Next trip we do the advanced tours...repel and crawl........

“Awesome Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

Great place. Did the intermediate route. Not a dangerous adventure, but pretty challenging and very entertaining. Worth the visit and the money paid.

“Unforgettable experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

This place is a must go for anyone who likes things out of the ordinary. The Caverns are not lit so you go in with a head light provided by the guide. Ronaldo Cuy our guide offered three levels of tours. Family, just walking, intermediate which involves some crawling and sliding and extreme which involves repeling and balancing through narrow passages. we chose the intermediate and it was fun and exciting. Ronaldo is so peaceful and knowledgeable that we always felt safe! our 10 and 12 year old had so much fun too. This is a must go!
Getting there is a bit tricky because there is a sign that says RUI calcehtok before getting there, but keep on driving, the entrance road is about a mile after that.

“Pure adventure, not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

The visit these caves was an adventure not to be missed. Unlike other caves, they do not have lights and you are accompanied by a guide and some torches. There are several trips to be chosen : from the easy family tour (the one we did) to the more expert ones. The place is fantastic and you really feel how it must have been when ancient Mayas lived in them.
