As we learned from a hacienda owner, Temozon was one of the best haciendas in Yucatan... that was may be true when they built it, but now it really needs some renovations, it's quite dirty (when I opened the window I saw like 2 cm of dead flies...) and some of the furniture is in a really poor condition. In our room we saw one lizard and one huge millipede... I mean it's not catastrophical, but for 300 USD per night it's a lot too much, for a third of the price it would be a great deal, but not at the full price. Not to mention that no one speaks one word of English there; we asked if it was possible to send postcards, paid for the stamps (4 weeks ago) and still didn't receive the postcards (although the ones we posted 1 week later in another hotel already arrived...).

If you want to experience a really great hacienda, go to Uayamon (which is managed by the same group : Plan), there it's really magic and really worth the money.

“Enchanting place, but beware of bugs!!!”

I stayed at Hacienda Temozon in October of 2004 for two nights of which I slept none. It is a magical and romantic place, but it all ends when you go to bed at night. There were all kinds of bugs crawling down from the wall. During both nights I killed a lizard, centipide, and two big spiders, one of which was of a red color and on top of my bed!!! The hotel is apparently aware of the problem as they give you repellent and insecticide along with your toiletries in the room. My friend stayed at "Cuarto del Patron" (Boss' Room) which is their main suite and it comes with a private pool, but some very loud frogs hang out there at night. So she too couldn't sleep. I also saw a bat flying through the restaurant both nights. I do have to say that the Hotel's service is superb and so is the decor. The rustic, Mexican construction of the 16th century has been well preserved with clay tile roof, adobe walls and rustic wood doors--I guess that explains the lack of insulation on the ceiling and frames of windows and doors and the bugs coming in at night. The A/C worked well and was silent. Also, the pool is breathtaking, and if you love Mexican food, you'll be very pleased as it is excellent and inexpensive for being a Starwood Resort. Try their guacamole dip and chips! Just make sure you go with your significant other as it is an incredibly romantic place. PS -- there are no TV's in the rooms!

“Temozon is Beautiful and Serene”

Hacienda Temozon

Our family just stayed at Temozon for 3 nights. We had a wonderful time. The Hacienda is beautiful and the service first rate. Our suite was very spacious (including a hammock in the sitting area) and very attractive. The pool is very nice and our two daughters (11 and 13) spent ours playing in it. This is a great place to use as a base for seeing ruins such as Uxmal, which is only about 30 minutes away.

This is the place to stay if you want to relax. It is pricey but worth it. The food is quite expensive, but is very good.

HACIENDA TEMOZONItinerary Number: 18995126156* Folks,Just wanted to drop you a note with some feedback. My husband and I were AMAZED and delighted with Hacienda Temozon. It was elegant, serene, exquisite, the architects made a beautiful transition from crumbling colonial hacienda to exquiste hotel without destroying any of the charm and without leaving out one detail of luxury. The staff (who were of local Mayan descent) proved to be the true treasure. They were consistently wonderful service providers and additionally, wonderful friends to us.
They provided us with a view of Mayan culture today and to a person were kind, interesting, charming and personable. The maid staff made extravagant daily fresh flower arrangements, any request was not too much. For example when we inquired about the coconut grove in the back of the plantation, Nelson, one the dining room staff climbed a coco palm the next day, opened the fruit and made us fresh drinks of coco milk and sparkling water.Complimentary horse rides and bicyles rides through the countryside and swimming in the cenote a mere 20 metres in back of the pools were mere bonuses.I could go on and on but this beautiful, welcoming, rural hacienda was an amazing experience. We will never forget this experience of unequaled elegance.Starwood should be proud of Herman Reeling Brouwer (the manager of the hacienda's in the luxury collection), Alma Delia Flores Perez, concierge, as well as the beautiful teamwork in the staff that has been developed. When our flight from Merida was cancelled Alma went the extra mile, contacted AeroMexico, packed us a beautiful (complimentary) lunch and sent us on our way. When we got to the airport all was arranged perfectly. When we left the staff presented us with a gift of a beautiful Yucatan hammock and told us we were the best guests they'd ever had. We left the hotel crying and feeling like we were leaving our friends behind.Special thanks for amazing service and character to: Luis (glasses) dining room captain, Luis (no glasses), Omar, Eric, Elena, Mildred, Fernando, Jaime, Giovanni, Jose, Ricardo, Nelson, Edgar and if we forgot anyone we are very sorry. Please continue to offer this amazing experience to your clients.Sincerely,Lisa Woodward

Beautiful historic property from the 16th century. The room was huge and the staff very friendly and accomodating. Dinners under the stars were very romantic. Highly recommended especially if you are exploring the Puuc ruins.
