Hacienda Temozon – 2 nights
SPG Platinum member using points and pay for this stay

This was the fifth stay of the 5 SPG-managed Haciendas. After a day at Lolltun Caves and Uxmal, we continued our drive to Hacienda Temozon having left Hacienda Uayamon earlier in the day. We arrived to see s tree-lined entry to the Hacienda where resident manager, Diana Ramirez greeted us. We had what we consider a large standard room with a private patio and outdoor plunge pool. The vibe of the Hacienda was bustling in comparison to the other Haciendas. While this was fine as our final Hacienda, we came to better appreciate the privacy at the other Haciendas once we arrived and experienced Temozon.
The Executive Chef, Christian Bravo developed a vegetarian menu for us which had so many innovative dishes to enjoy over the next two nights. The meal we had on the first night sent us into a blissful food coma. The second evenings 6 course meal was fantastic.
The grounds at Hacienda Temozon were so serene. Inside the meeting rooms were historical photographs. The grounds offer many walking and biking paths through the property. The property offers a trolley ride to the cenote, however we opted not to make the trek. The property also offers spa treatments in a cave. We visited the cave and saw the treatment beds. We enjoyed roaming around the property. It was a good place to end our Hacienda tour.

A wonderfull place, just between Merida and Uxmal. Everything was just fine, fromthe room to the service. The restaurant is good but not awesome, however not so expensive. Definitely a must see.

“You will feel like someone very important!”

Hacienda Temozon

Hacienda Temozon was the third stop in our whirlwind tour of three of the Luxury Collection Haciendas, which also included Santa Rosa and San Jose. Temozon, is clearly the grandest of the three, with an impressive approach and grounds, and a fabulous pool. The rooms are spacious and lux. The spa is set in the cave-like setting of a cenote.

President George Bush stayed a Temozon when visiting the newly elected President of Mexico earier this year. Sitting on the expansive front porch, surveying the lovely grounds, and sipping an evening cocktail, you, too, will feel like someone very important.

There is a lot of effort made to preserve the history of the hacienda as the center of a sisal plantation. The result is a wonderful blend of old world style and new world luxury. Among the three haciendas we visited, Temozon had the best food and most varied menu.

All, in all, an enjoyable end to our tour of the haciendas. We will be back.

We had a "destination wedding" in Playa Del Carmen and planned to drive to the interior of the Yucatan to Hacienda Temozon for our honeymoon. So after having the time of our lives in Playa the week of the wedding, I started to worry that the honeymoon would not live up to what we had experienced thus far, and what I had dreamt about for the ultimate honeymoon. I should not have spent a second worrying! Hacienda Temozon exceeded all my dreams. The plunge pool outside our suite was heaven, and filled flowers, as was our entire room every evening. The food was very good to excellent, the wine list better than most places in Mexico (coming from Northern California - standards are probably too high!) and the service was incredible. The Hacienda is the perfect location to explore ruins and spend time in Merida. We stayed for 5 days, explored 3 of the days and just laid by the pool for two. My husband arranged a romantic dinner by candlelight and the Hacienda provided a local artist who serenaded us while we eat. Definitely a do! Yes, there are bugs as there are in any tropical location, but each room is supplied with bug spray. Yes, we did hear dogs, but not to where it ever bothered us. Maybe our room was better located than those who wrote the dog barking as an issue? Having traveled quite a bit and being from the Bay Area, I am not impressed easily - we are spoiled in San Francisco, but I can honestly say Hacienda Temozon was everything you see in the pictures and more.

We stayed at the Hacienda for three nights with two children (ages 6 and 8) and had an overall enjoyable stay. On the positive side this place is an expansive piece of property with just a small number of guest rooms which gives one a sense of exclusivity in staying there. The architecture and landscape are well thought out. The restaurant is great and offered enough variety and good service that we ended up eating all of our breakfasts and dinners at the hotel. The kids loved the hammocks and the pool. We did the excursion to the cenota which takes about two hours and involves a donkey pulling a cart on an old railroad track. The cenota is small but the we found the water to be warmer than that in the pool and being the only people there made it feel a little more special.

On the negative side we did experience noise from the local village some nights although it subsided by the time we were ready to sleep. The beds are just so-so in comfort level. (They are not Heavenly Beds.) The pool is great but the shallow end serves as a bathing area for a large population of birds and subsequently there's no small amount of bird poop in the water. Finally we discovered a dent on our rental car when we returned it to Merida that must have been done by a hacienda valet. The cars get parked in a lot you never see, and you may want to do a close inspection after your car is retrieved for you.
