Wonderful value for the money. Terrific central location with a rooftop pool overlooking part of the Cathedral.

My wife and I had a four night trip in the Yucatan and we spent three nights in Merida at two different hotels.

Exterior noise came in the room (third floor near the stair) becacuse there is only a thin window between the room and the hallway.
The room (superior?) was dingy and smelled musty. The bathroom actually smelled like sewer gas and the shower was cool/cold and had a bad shower head.
They share a parking lot down the block. You have to pay for the time after 7am until the end of the day.
There was a decent pool. However, they only had one table with three chairs and two lounge chairs for all the guests.

Not thrilled. I would have been ok with the hotel if I did not pay as much and if there were not better hotels at the same or lower price.

This hotel is a gem! From the beautiful antique furniture in the lobby of this former convent to the black and white tiles, excellent restaurant (with two toucans keeping you company!) and rooftop pool with view of the University of the Yucatan, why stay anywhere else? Reasonably priced, big rooms; gorgeous tiles everywhere; free internet in the lobby; and location, location, location on a charming square one block from the main town square. It's very atmospheric. I'd strongly recommend staying here again!

This hotel hasn't changed very much since I last stayed here, some 15 years ago. It is a pleasant enough place, with a terriffic location within a 2 or 3 blocks, in any direction, of just about everything you may want to see in the centro. The rooms, are not fancey but, they are clean and comfortable (if you are not to demanding). The principle maintenance issue is with the sink faucetts, they have a conciderable amount of calcium buildup in them and spray where you may not want them to. Also, the same problem with the shower heads, which by the way are not angle adjustable. Do not plan on doing any reading in the rooms, the lights aren't that bright.

During our recent visit, we stayed in two different rooms here because a problem developed with th AC on our last day.
Room 21, in which we stayed for 3 nights, was reasonably comfortable with a good sized bathroom. Room 25, in which we stayed our last night, struck us as being somewhat smaller and dysfunctional in its' layout, also the bathroom was 1/2 the size of the other room and quite cramped. You may wish to look at your room before accepting it.
