“Really wonderful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2015 via mobile

A really pleasant surprise. Even though we stayed for only one night we were really impressed with this Hotel. We arrived at 10am and despite check in being at 3pm they got is into a hotel room straight away, which was really welcome as we had had a tough early morning travelling to merida. The room itself was large and well-maintained. The bathroom was small but the shower itself was a good size. The hotel also has a modest swimming pool which was really nice given how hot merida was! We were located about 10 minutes walk to the main plaza and so the hotel is conveniently located. We had hot water throughout. The pool is small but refreshing to have it available in the city heat. The downsides included that they did not include a consistent supply of water; we were limited to the one small complimentary bottle and had to buy our water ourselves. However, the staff were really helpful when we were exploring options to travel to Chichen Itza. They did not force their recommended tour on us but assisted us to contact taxi companies when we were considering going it alone. The use of the business centre and the internet was free which came in hand when my partner had to sort some things out. We also had planned to take the overnight bus and the staff were very accommodating with us coming back and forth to our bags kept behind the reception desk. All in all, especially considering the price, this was a really good hotel. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a bargain hotel, this is your place. I stayed in February and it cost me only $132 for three nights. Granted the rooms are pretty simple and plain but it does have a pool and free in room wifi. The location was very good - just a short walk from the main downtown plazas. The staff were very nice and one in particular (Ralph was the English version of his name) could not have been more helpful.

Room Tip: No elevator so you might want to avoid the higher floors if you have knee problems or an aversion to...

This is a very good hotel, in fact I'd say it's just a couple of details shy from being a great one! First off, the location is very good, just a short walk away from the city's main plaza. The staff working at the front desk is incredibly helpful and very friendly. The property is well maintained, rooms are clean and spacious, and wifi worked really well. The only drawbacks for me, and they are only minor ones, were that there were no bedside lamps, which meant hubby had to try falling asleep with the lights on while I was reading. Also, being an early riser, it would have been nice to have access to some coffee (perhaps in the lobby area?) since there was no coffeemaker in the room and the on-site restaurant didn't open until 7:00 am. The pool area was really nice but lacked something in the way of ambience, so we didn't see anyone use it during our stay. Finally, I didn't care much for the soap dispensers in the bathroom (all week long I wondered if I was washing my hair with hand soap). That being said, given how little we paid to stay there, I'd say we had our money's worth, and then some!

There are lots of choices of places to stay in Merida. We are pleased we chose Del Gobernador. The location was good, the room immaculate and the staff was professional and very helpful. If we ever return to Merida we will not have to search for a place to stay, we will stay here. The room was perfect, the pool delightful and the room we had (225) was really quiet. Yes we did hear the wheels of suitcases being dragged along the floor, but that was the only noise we heard. All in all, we would highly recommend this hotel.

I liked the location, and the room, lobby, and adjacent restaurant were fine for the price, but I did not have any hot water in my shower for the length of my stay. Make sure you ask for a room with hot water in the shower. I ate at the attached restaurant several times, and the food was good.

My wife and I just returned from 4 nights at the Del Gobernador and we loved every minute of it. the rooms were pristine clean the house keeping staff there does a fantastic job in the rooms in the common areas and around the pool, the front desk team was super friendly and helpful to any of our requests and needs and the bell man team was over the top...Roger is amongst the best I have ever seen at his job, with the right amount of information to lead you in the right direction without overselling his own agenda....we enjoyed ourselves immensely and look forward to returning one day

Room Tip: Excellent Wi Fi every location of the hotel sit out in the courtyard or a separate courtyard around...

We stayed one night at this hotel, whose location is excellent, just three blocks from the main plaza and the cathedral. There are lots of restaurants and local artisan's shops. The general area around the hotel is quite safe, and you can walk at night with no problems.

The rooms are nice and spacious, air conditioning units work more or less, and the bathrooms are clean.

The swimming pool is beautiful.

All in all, this is a great hotel and would definitely come back.
