“nothing wrong, nothing outstanding”

at the groundlevel a shoppingcentre, above this hotel. Strange... Ariving at this hotel with the car was very confusing. this (neo) colonial style gives you the style of the grand hotel in the earlier days, but the central hall referes more to the shoppingcentre. Rooms are more than ok. We had diner twice in this hotel. It didn't leave us a big impression. We enjoyed the swimmingpool at the first floor and the terras from the bar. Also breakfust is nice.

I went to Merida for a conference and since the conference was being held at this hotel, I just stayed there. Before I arrived I was planning a different trip figuring I would just focus on the conference even though I had a couple of days free. Man I wish I would have thought it out more. It was a beautiful area! That said, the hotel stepped in and helped me have not only a great stay at the hotel, but a great stay in Merida.

The room was incredibly spacious and appeared to be very clean. I do have allergies to most cleaning products and there was a bit of an odd smell, but after airing out the room, I was fine. It was unfortunate that there was no screen door, but it was a small balcony and it was very hot and humid outside so wouldn't have used it often anyway.

They do have a breakfast buffet for around $210 pesos which is nice if you want a big breakfast and they have a ton of . The staff don't all speak English, which is fine, but then they seem to assume that you will just take the buffet and had trouble some mornings getting a menu, which had a lot cheaper and smaller plates. There was a ton of fruit and yogurt, cereals, about 5 different types of juices, lots of pastries, and lots and lots of meats and eggs. I don't believe that they had soy milk, but since I couldn't remember the word for soy and the waiter didn't know the english word I guess I'll never know.

The hotel itself is beautiful and only about a 20 min walk or just a couple of minute (~$60 Peso ) taxi ride to down town. Just up the road is a great statue and four miles away is the new Mayan Cultural Museum which is a must see! The concierge were incredibly helpful with setting up tours and even printed our boarding passes for us.

There are a bunch of great restaurants near by, but make sure to eat down town! Merida felt like one of the safest places and a group of us (about 4) would regularly walk back from dinner to the hotel.

The restaurant in the hotel was okay, but compared to some of the other restaurants in town, it was meh. It was actually pretty good, but there are some better stuff not that far away and I would suggest going out all or most nights. There is a nice bar in the restaurant which has a little patio and good service.

Since we had a very early flight (had to leave the hotel by 5:00am) they let me check out the night before which made that morning. They were incredibly accommodating. The taxi ride to the airport was $150 pesos and they made sure that we got that flat rate (which was 50 pesos cheaper than our ride to the hotel).

Room Tip: I had a room facing one of the off streets and it was very quiet. Some of my friends had rooms overl...

This is a very Mexican Hotel, has excellent service, a very good location and a shopping center. Have their breakfast buffet it is really good and lunch or dinner at Los Almendros is a must. An excellent option for conventions, seminars, large groups.

Room Tip: Do not accept rooms at the SPA or swimming pool level; unless you go with your kids.

Very clean and glamorous, the staff treats you well and the rooms are nice. They have free wi-fi and the concierge service is good for booking you on excursions. The buffet is good downstairs for breakfast, about $20 a person. Or you can go to Chillis which is inside the hotel for about $10 a person.

The President of Mexico stays in this hotel.

Room Tip: Pick a room where the balcony faces west...otherwise the sun will wake you up early in the morning.

My friend and I stayed at the Fiesta Americana in Merida from May 10-13. What a lovely hotel. It was an unusual set up because there is a shopping mall on the ground floor, and you must take an escalator up to the hotel lobby. The lobby is huge, but the check in process was simple even though most of the staff spoke limited English. There was a concierge available all of the time to provide directions and ideas of places to visit. The hotel has free Wi-Fi and an excellent health club, hot tub and pool.

When we made reservations, we included the breakfast buffet as part of the package. That was a good move on our part. It was delicious and the service was very good as well. Our room was nice, although the TV selection was somewhat limited. We had one little problem with the room - the hair dryer didn't work initially. I called down and within 5 minutes, a young man was running up the hallway to our room with a replacement!

The only area I saw for improvement was the bottled water situation. There were signs all around that the water was not potable, which we expected would be the case. And frankly, Merida's water in general has an off-putting odor (if you've ever showered in Orlando, Florida, you know the smell I'm referring to!). But other than a very small bottle of complementary water on the nightstand, guests are charged for all bottled water even in the restaurant. Since you pretty much have to use bottled water for everything, a bit more complimentary water would be appreciated.

Just as an aside, if you are taking an ADO bus back to the Cancun airport, the station is just across the street from the Fiesta Americana. It couldn't be simpler to get tickets and go.

Room Tip: Merida is very hot and humid, at least in May. It's very difficult to find any buildings that a...
