“Outstanding Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for only one night November 2 as the house we rented in Merida was noisy due to adjacent renovations. We wanted to stay our last two nights but we we unable to get a room due to full occupancy. Our room was nicely furnished and very clean. It even had a hammock for relaxing. The bed was super comfortable thus affording us an excellent sleep. The hotel restaurant served outstanding meals which were reasonably priced. All the baking is done in house. Homa, the lovely owner is always present, circulating and chatting with the hotel guests. Her staff is outstanding from the desk clerks to the waiters in the restaurant. Kudos to Roberto on the front desk who spoke excellent English and he also was very helpful when we posed questions.

Very nicely renovated with a charming central courtyard. Rooms are quite variable, so ask for one with windows on street rather than on interior. Easy walk to Zocalo or along Paseo Montejo. Restaurant is worth a meal and there is a small shop with beautiful craft items.

I enjoyed Casa San Angel. The rooms are nicely kitted out with an eclectic mix of Mexican furniture and fixtures. The hotel is spotlessly clean and well maintained with good water pressure in the bathroom (not that common in some of the colonial towns in Mexico!).

The location is great - you can walk to the main town square in about 13 minutes. The staff and manager were welcoming and helpful with the organisation of tours and local information and the restaurants food was totally fine.

So all in all a great stay. I loved the pet parrots that live near the reception desk. You can be mistaken for thinking there is a baby someplace but it's actually the birds! Only minor annoyance was the patchy wifi signal in my room.

Definitely a sound, value for money hotel in Merida.

Wonderful hotel / home... gives you a feeling of stepping back in time. The days of the henequen wealth. Great service and lots of antiques. Very comfortable rooms and even a hammock in the room. Great location, right at the start of stately Paseo de Montejo. Nicce on site property and cool stores selling beautiful items.

Just stepping into the central patio of this architectural jewel located in the very start of the Elysean-like Paseo de Montejo, is an invitation to travel in time. The owners have respected the atmosphere of the 19th Century glamour and every room is unique in ammenities and decor. We stayed in a second floor suite with a balcony overlooking the Remate park, where on saturday night´s trouvadors stroll by ready to offer a serenata to any couple in love. The romantic trio music is soothing and melodious, filling the archways of the large main patio of this beautiful boutique hotel.

All the reviews were accurate! This is a wonderful hotel centrally located in Merida. Outstanding service rendered by Roberts and his team. The small restaurant serves very good food along with professional service. Beautifullyddecorated and very comfortable. An elevator is being installed to make access to upper floor even easier.

The best thing about this hotel was Location Location Location!! We were centered between the Centro Plaza and the famous Paseo de Montejo. They provide parking and we never had to use our vehicle until the last day when we drove out to the Gran Museo del Mundo Mayan. The restaurant was also excellent. Especially the coffee. We thought the menu was a little small but everything we ordered was absolutely wonderful!! I cant wait to return. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful when we arrived. The gift shop is also a must see. A wonderful selection of items from different parts of Mexico with high quality material. The seating area of the lobby was peaceful and beautiful and the rooms were very clean. My favorite was the hammock hanging inside the room. I slept all night and felt very rested in the morning! This was an extra sleeping accommodation. There were also the two beds in our double room. I cant tell you how comfortable the beds are because I only slept in the hammock, but my room mate said she slept well too. I look forward to returning soon!!
