“Nice Hotel with Some Major Flaws”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

My wife and I took a 5 day trip to Isla Mujeres Palace on June 25, 2013.
Overall I would give the Hotel 3 Stars.

Pros:
-Very Nice Rooms. The rooms were well appointed and functional. AC blew very cold. Jacuzzi was a nice treat.
-Food Quality. For an all-inclusive, the food was quite good. Room service was prompt.
-Quaint Hotel. Only 60+ rooms. Very low occupancy.
-Staff. The staff for the most part was very friendly and eager to help.

Cons:
-The Beach. Unfortunately the Beach Front was really not very picturesque. The hotel only has about 300' Linear Feet of beach and it is covered in seaweed. If you want to go out in the water, be prepared for a view of seaweed and little else. Also, 5 mins after sunset the beach fleas come out by the hundreds. Bring OFF.
-Minimal Menu. Every night there were 2 choices for dinner: Italian or Mexican. This was ok since we were there for only 4 nights, but if I were staying longer, I would have gotten burned out on the same stuff each night.
-Beach Clubs next door. This was just awful. Truly was unacceptable. I have stayed at numerous Adult Only hotels throughout the Caribbean/Mexico, and I have never had more noise and annoying music to deal with. On both sides of the small resort are Beach Clubs that appear to cater primarily to Mexican tourists. They play music at a mind numbing level and are talking on speakers in Spanish practically from 9:30am till 9:30pm at night. There are brief breaks in the action, but this truly ruined the resort for my wife and I and will keep us from ever coming back. If this were to change, I would have felt completely different about Isla Mujeres Palace.

Room Tip: Go checkout North Beach! It is beautiful!!!

My wife and I stayed at this palace from June 24 to July 1. It's the perfect place to relax. The staff were super nice and helpful. The food was amazing and we never left the table unsatisfied. The service was amazing from the time we got there till we left. Eddie at the pool bar makes great drinks as this is where we stayed much of the time. The activities lady Karen was great as well. We did the casino night, wii and salsa lesons. Not a big hotel so we ran into the same people all week and made many new friends. Only complaint is the restrurant is outdoors or open air and made breakfast time hot but by dinner it was pleasant. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and would consider staying here in the future.

Room Tip: Use the credits to upgrade room to ocean view.

First time staying at this property. We have stayed at four other Palace Resorts (Vallarta, Moon, Adventura Spa, and Moon Punta Cana), as we are members.

This place is all about relaxation. The resort is quiet and very clean. The rooms are comfortable and we slept very well.

There are not a lot of activities and not much at night either, but if you are looking for somewhere to chill and reconnect with your significant other this is the place. That would pretty much go for the island too. There are no real nightclubs. There are bars and restaurants, but at night not much going on. If you want that, you need to stay in Cancun. What this island does have is a peaceful, easy-going, very safe feeling.

The resort is small so you can get around very quick. Has a lovely sandy beach that gets pretty sunsets in the evening. The water is very shallow, however I enjoyed floating in it. There are sea plants so you may want to wear water shoes. There was nothing better than laying under the palapa and relaxing with the breezes or floating in the ocean.

Everyone is super friendly and if you ask for something they will do their best to get it for you. You will get a chance to meet other couples/groups as there is only one pool, but there are always plenty of lounge chairs on beach and pool area. They do play music at the pool throughout the day, so most people congregate there.

See the Fire Show at night -it was awesome and for me the highlight of ANY show I have seen at ANY Palace Resort

I will definitely go back as I fell in love with Isla Mujeres. The only improvement would be if they added dancing/music to one of the bar areas for the guests and if they provided cart rental services onsite.

I thoroughly enjoyed this resort and felt truly relaxed at the end of my vacation.

An adults only and somewhat secluded property, the IM Palace is perfect for couples who want luxury in an intimate setting. Located on the southeast part of IM, the Palace has only 62 rooms, not all of which were available as we learned when we checked in having an interest in upgrading to an Ocean Front view, not a partial Ocean View as we had reserved. Nevertheless, our room overlooked the lovely pool area, was very quiet, and most importantly COOL once you learn how to operate the thermostat! If you go to IM in June, it is very HOT and HUMID and you'll appreciate that cool room during breaks from island activities.

We practically had the resort to ourselves during the morning when we were literally the only ones dining (we are early risers) and thoroughly enjoyed breakfast with eggs cooked to order, fresh fruit, and assorted pastries along with interesting local dishes we are not accustomed to having. During the day, the buffet offers even more interesting choices but we found the cheeseburger specially prepared by the grill chef (whose name I'm sorry I can not recall) to hit the American spot! Dinners were fantastic and beautifully presented! All the staff working in the dining area were especially gracious, especially Jose Luis, Rosa Maria, Lourdes, and Bernardino. Edy made the best comforting cooling cocktails and we enjoyed meeting him and other hotel guests who would appear during the afternoon hours.

One note about evening dining: The dining area is open air and practically on the beach so you will be HOT and an occasional mosquito made us glad we packed Skin So Soft and Off.

We definitely hope to go back to IM and when we do, we will stay at the Palace again. Maybe just not in the summer..................it's very HOT!!!!!

We just returned from one of the most relaxing vacations in a long, long time. We stayed at Isla Mujeres Palace all inclusive resort on the little known gem of Mexico Isla Mujeres (The Island of the Woman). It is not a very big island and has a unique flavour all on its own. We rented a 57 chevy golf cart from Mega Ciro’s Golf Carts and Moped for $42 a day. Drove it all over the island and checked out Garrafon de Castilla Park for snorkeling, zip line and other activities plus checked out all the nice homes on the island. During our travel, we ran into a quaint little bar and grill called The Joint. It is near Garrafon de Castialla Park and plays Reggae music with great food. They offer 3 beers and Guacamole for 100 pesos which is a sweet deal on a very hot day. We loved it and it’s worth a visit.

At Palace, we were in a Concierge room facing the ocean with all the amenities that comes with Concierge, aroma therapy, pillow menu and iPhone dock to name a few. Double sinks behind the hot tub, a nice size balcony and a king size bed, fantastic room with a view.

It is a small boutique resort for adults only with 62 rooms. As Palace Members, with our stay we received $1,500 resort credit (the amount will vary whether you are a member or what type of package you are traveling in). With the credits you can upgrade to Concierge room, if available, get a romantic dinner on the beach, tours, upgraded wine list or couples massage on a covered deck over the water, how romantic. The water is usually very warm but there is seaweed in parts of it. I suggest bringing water shoes and snorkel. Lounges with thatched roof tables abound on the beach.

The reason we keep going back to Palace Resorts, (2nd trip this year) is the service and the people. This starts from the top down with General Manager Daniel getting involved on the ground level and Paulo the Food and Beverage manager on the floor every day even clearing tables when necessary with Jose Luis wait manager looking after everything you may need. The proof is in the length of time most of the employees have been there. We saw most of them 2 years ago.

Jose and Uleses at the front desk looked after our needs with the spa and tours plus anything you needed in your room.

Nice pool with a swim up bar serving your favorite drinks by Juan, Daniel and Edy with a snack bar behind and a wood burning pizza oven. Have to love it.

Breakfast and Lunch was always a pleasure when greeted by Rosa and Lourdes always smiling and always greeting you by name.

Dining was also fantastic even though there is only one restaurant. They split into two distinct areas with two separate menus, traditional Mexican and Italian. Both fantastic and if there is something that is not on the menu, Chef Ubaldo would be happy to make it for you. We received a personal cooking lesson, with translation provided by Lourdes, on how to make traditional Empanadas which was a real pleasure and greatly appreciated.

Servers that made our stay special are Arturo, Bernardino, Wilma, Sharanye, Juan and Daniel who also covered the pool bar. There are too many other great people that we just didn’t get to know well but hope to next time.

Now of course without the bar staff, this would not be a great vacation so we had a great time with Diago, Dario, Daniel, Juan and Edy tending the lobby and pool bars with great service and always filled with laughter.

Palace Resorts took care of all the transportation. When we arrived, we were met by Traffic Tours who gave us four Ferry passes, there and back, 2 taxi passes on Isla from the ferry to the Palace and back to the ferry plus a pass from the ferry to the airport. Well orchestrated. Taxi to Ferry is about 30 minutes which run hourly except for 3pm and last ferry is at 11pm. Ferry is about 25 minutes and the taxi to Palace is about 15 minutes. It is roughly 70 minutes of travel.

Daniel and all your staff, Mucho Gracias for such a wonderful vacation. This will become a yearly tradition for us.

Room Tip: Concierge Level upgraded rooms with Ocean View are the quietest and slightly larger.

Nice, cozy, small and perfect to relax and enjoy Isla Mujeres. A great place if you're looking for a romantic getaway. A bit far from downtown, but is a short taxi or golf cart ride. Food options are somehow limited because there is one restaurant, however theme nights solve that issue.
