This being our first trip to Mexico and Isla, I can't say enough good things about Casitas del Mar! We would definitely go back. The view is amazing, gorgeous sunrises. The small beach is great for shelling, and we did go swimming our first night. Very rocky and the surf is very strong. Bob and Joyce were so nice. If you need directions, they know EXACTLY how to get you there. We rented a Jeep, but it wouldn't have been necessary, however, we did like the freedom of having our own wheels. The ferry rides and getting to and from the airport were great adventures as well as driving through La Colonia everyday. The rooms were beautiful and so clean!!! Every evening I would sit on the patio to write my notes on what we did that day. There was always an ocean breeze. Joyce graciously made reservations for us at Casa O's, which was a perfect end to our trip. If you want a quiet room with great views of the Carribean, Casitas del Mar is the place for you.

My wife and I spent 5 nights in Joyce and Bob's Casitas del Mar. The view of the Caribbean Ocean from our suite was unbelieveable- I woke up early to watch the sunrise each morning. The room was nicely decorated and the kitchenware was the best we have ever seen in a rental unit. The highlight was the evenings we spent with our ex-Canadian hosts, learning about the island and living in Mexico.
We will return!

My wife and I spent 9 nights with Joyce and Bob this past Feburary and loved it! The room was very nice and worked perfect for us, we really liked being in the colony and the "adventure" of exploring the area. Over the time of our stay we came to love the people and Isla.

The coast is rocky with big surf in the winter, pretty to look at but not for swimming, but we walked to the opposite side of the island; less than a mile or started walking and caught a cab to town or north beach for 10 pesos. Both Janet and I would recommend Casitas del Mar for anyone who enjoys making their own adventure, and who doesn't mind minor inconveniences; Isla is not luxury, but it is friendly and safe.

Just got back from a wonderful week stay at Casitas Del Mar. Casitas is about 2 miles from town but the taxi fare is only $1.00 to get into town! Casitas is on the "wild" side of the island. The units are only about a year old and there are only 4 of them. So, it is quiet and relaxing. You have a small kitchen, tv and a queen size bed. The view is to die for. It was so nice waking up to the view of the ocean. The people who stay there were so nice, we met a few new friends! Joyce and bob, the owners, are very nice hosts...I would recommend Casitas Del Mar to anyone...
