This was my first trip to Isla Mujeres and I was so happy to have chosen to stay at the Casitas del Mar. I was on vacation, traveling alone but I felt like I was surrounded by friends. Neighbors in the other casitas were fabulous and Bob and Joyce were wonderful hosts. They took me under thier wing the day I arrived and it set the tone for the rest of my stay. Joyce arranged for myself and another couple in the neighboring casita to go to Ek Balam, a mayan ruin a couple hours away and all we had to do was take the ferry to Cancun where we were met by our driver. It is a trip worth taking if you have an opportunity.
The Casitas are wonderful, very clean, cute decorations and many personal touches that definately made it feel like home. I would sit on the patio each night and write in my journal, watch the waves rolling in from the ocean and wish I could stay forever.
I loved staying in Colonia Gloria which is the neighborhood on the Carribean side of the Island, away from downtown. It was quiet, except for an occasional rooster and you can listen to the sound of the ocean when you wake and when you go to sleep.
I highly recommend this gem by the sea and would definately go back.
