“Friendly, fun, reasonable- GREAT Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

This was our second visit to Las Palmas and it was even better! Here's why you should stay there.....Great location, friendly owners who provide a wealth of information and advice, reasonable rates that include many extras. The extras are purified water, beach towels, a fully equipped kitchen, free coffee, basic supplies in kitchen, sunscreen, snorkel gear and more.

The hotel rooms are small and open onto the inner courtyard, so if you want private luxury and quiet, this is not the hotel for you. It's perfect if you enjoy interaction and friendly chats with other travelers, lively decor and open air communal spaces. The library, the inner courtyard, the rooftop kitchen, lounge area, dipping pool and shade deck are wonderful spaces to hang out. The rooms are air conditioned and painted with great murals.

We traveled with three teenagers, and found Las Palmas to be entirely safe and welcoming. Kate and Safari are very helpful and Dania is a delight!

We arrived on Isla Mujeres with no accommodation and found Las Palmas by driving around town in our golf buggy and seeing the the bright exterior.

The hotel is built around a small paved courtyard and has a large terrace with small plunge pool and open kitchen on the roof.

Kate was welcoming from the outset, she explained the rooms she had available at each price.
There were 3 prices of rooms, we opted for the cheapest room as we already had a room in Cancun and just wanted to escape Spring Break. Our room was only $50. It had a window, but it opened onto an alley so there was not the view that the higher rooms had, but it was very clean, had a clean bathroom with hot water, a fridge, a fan & air conditioning. It was perfect for our needs. Staying in this room enabled us to enjoy the facilities like the pool that may be we couldn't have afforded otherwise. As we wanted to be out most the day this room was more than adequate for us.
Overall I really liked the Las Palmas, Kate and Safari were really friendly and helpful and offered advice where necessary.
If you like a generic hotel then this place is not for you, but if you like a bit of character and a warm, relaxed, homely atmosphere then this place is a great little find!
I would definitely stay here again if I am lucky enough to return to Isla Mujeres.

We stayed at several hotels thru the years but this is where we felt most safe. The rooms are clean and spacious and the maids are friendly. Kate and Safari are very helpful and treat us like family. Looking forward to next year.

Usually I dislike hotels, they are such impersonal places. A blank room with no soul. What
I love about Las Palmas, is it has soul. Each room is unique and has a personal touch. It feels like home because it is home to Kate, Safari and Dania who live there.
You are a welcome guest in their home of a hotel. It has all the comforts of being at home too, beach towels, snorkeling gear, a library, sofas, balconies a fully equipped roof top kitchen, coffee, free water, free advice and a warm welcome.
The rooftop terrace is the jewel in Las Palmas's crown. I could live there! Sun loungers, hammocks, dipping pool, open plan kitchen, surrounded by luscious plants and flowers, with a great view of the surrounding area. Kate and Safari have worked hard to create such a beautiful home environment for guests to enjoy. I think above all else the thing that makes Las Palmas my home from home, (I'm about to make my third visit back there in as many years), is the fact that they care. They want you to have a good time and enjoy yourself. This is reflected in the wonderful mixture of people who stay here. I have made some of the best friends in my life from staying here and I simply love it. I can't wait to go back :))

We stayed at Hotel las palmas after collecting my Sister from cancun airport. Its a lovely place to stay in a great location close to the beach and all of the bars and restaurants. The whole set up there is great, with the communal kitchen and all the little things that kate and safari have added to make your stay wonderful. We really enjoyed ourselves and thank kate and safari for a great time.

This is our fourth stay on the island and 3 1/2 times at Las Palmas. The last time was 2011 and we loved it then... We did not think it could get better but we were wrong. They have continued to upgrade and improve. The roof top patio is now half covered for shade with 2 new hammocks and a hanging chair. The best addition is a full sized roof top kitchen complete with 6 burner stove and full size fridge, toaster, blender, etc. a island prep area. Completely optional but lots of people have breakfast. Fresh juice, fruit, tomatoes etc from the market across the street. And amazing cinnamon buns from the bakery just behind the market. Kate & Safari defiantly earned the number 1 spot on trip adviser. An AMAZING place. THANK. YOU !!!!!,

Room Tip: All rooms are great but ask about the roof top units.

Just finished 2 wonderful weeks on Isla at Las Palmas with Kate and Safari. We stayed at Nautibeach and 2 other places before finding Las Palmas Hotel. This was our fifth year returning to stay with them. Wonderful, quiet, community atmosphere. Singing and salsa on the rooftop deck. Fresh squeezed juice and veggies across street at local market. Booked 3 weeks for 2015.

Room Tip: Choice of 2 full size or 1 King bed. All rooms good.

Hotel Las Palmas is your home away from home on Isla Mujeres, tucked away from the hustle-bustle of Cancun. We are a family run hotel (three generations of women, mother-daughter and grand-daughter). Naturally, our place is a very unpretentious accommodation with a casual, friendly atmosphere. We have many comfy communal areas, including a rooftop with a plunge pool. You'll find lounge chairs, hammocks, and tables with chairs to welcome you after a day at the beach - possibly an afternoon siesta. Our communal kitchen is also on the terrace and fully equipped. Our shaded deck on our second level, overlooking the street and is a great spot for people watching or reading a good book.We are located in the heart of the downtown. The beautiful turquoise of the Caribbean and powdery sand beach at Playa Norte are a block away (5 min walk). Just around the corner is Hidalgo Avenue, filled with cuisine from all over the world, live music, and friendly locals and tourists alike. We're directly across from the municipal market with four "loncheria" eating stalls, housing tasty, economical breakfast-lunch meals, as well as fresh squeezed juices. We have a hotel dog, Cachito (hypoallergenic, rasta-hair poodle) who is always ready for a stroll. ... more   less
