My sisters and I visited this Hotel and Island in July and wow wow wow! Small luxury hotel with amazing staff, 5min walk to one of the most amazing beaches I have ever seen. Each day we visited the Beach and also took advice from the staff and returning hotel guests of where to eat. The Hotel doesnt have a restaurant but one day we did order in lunch and they laid it out for us like it had come from there own kitchen. My sisters and I all agree that we would return to the island and this Hotel again.

We have been to Hotel Secreto twice -- nice in Nov 2009 and again this past July -- and we would go back tomorrow.

PROS: The staff is super friendly and always willing to bring you a poolside beer or order take-out guacamole for you while you lounge on their hideaway Caribbean beach. The bar/lounge area is ultra sleek in cool, crisp white, as are the gorgeous rooms. Giant cushy beds, a n indulgent shower, and a covered deck (with bed!) that overlooks the gorgeous pool and crashing surf. Delicious breakfast brought to your room each morning -- tropical fruit, strong coffee and toast and jam. The location is also excellent -- minutes to all the shops and restaurants of Playa Norte, but tucked away so you can escape it all behind their giant wooden gates.

CONS: The overall state of the rooms (think bathroom fixtures and wall paint jobs) was getting a *little* worn, but they told us they're planning to close soon for a bit for some upkeep. Afterwards, I'm sure it all be sparkling and pristine. Also, to the immediate right of the hotel is a giant, unfinished, half-built resort. To some, it may be off-putting, but it just means you have that whole beach sure to yourself! Also, you can't swim (but you can wade) in the rocky shore near the hotel, but the sun-bathing is divine and the actual swimming beach is literally minutes away.

This small and beautiful hotel is a great value for all that you receive. We stayed in room 11 and the view was spectacular. All rooms there are very spacious with great amenities. Robes, plenty of towels and plenty of toiletries were nice to have. Our housekeeper Yesenia, was very efficient with cleaning and mopping the floors daily along with changing the sheets and stocking up on the amenities. Whenever we would come into the room when she was cleaning, she would leave and return when we left………and always with a pleasant smile.

Vitcor and Jesus (I think his name was Jesus), were great at taking care of us. From bringing our bags up four floors to delivering food to our rooms and serving us drinks by the pool. These two always had big smiles and you could tell they really enjoyed what they were doing.
Secreto is an adult orientated and romantic hotel. Upon arrival, we were given Mimosas in the front lobby, which was a nice refreshing treat on a hot day. The guy in charge, Rofilio, checked us in promptly and made us feel very welcomed. We were also able to check in an hour early, which was very helpful. The only negatives we had at Secreto was the mini-refrigerator did not work very well. Any sodas or beers we kept in there were only slightly chilled and we once bought some fresh orange juice that spoiled the next day due to the lack of cold, but knowing this hotel, if we would have brought it up as an issue, they would have promptly replaced it. It was not that big of a deal to us, so we never brought it up. The only other problem we had was half way into our stay at this peaceful romantic hotel, a group of people staying at a property next door for a wedding had some friends also staying at Secreto. One day, the guests staying at Secreto decided to open the outside door to invite several loud adult friends along with another two little kids doing cannonballs into the pool. After I complained to the staff, eventually Rofilio took card of this problem. I noticed that there are not any signs that say “registered guests only” outside the pool door, which most other hotels have. It was only a half due ruined, but it was resolved.

Throughout all of our travels, we cannot think of a better place for the value than Secreto and we would try to come back annually. Its views are amazing and we left feeling very, very refreshed. Rofilio, who is from the Island, shared with us many stories of Isla Mujeras, which was enjoyable to here. The hotel and staff (I left out a couple of their names because I couldn’t remember them – sorry) are the best around! Thank you Secreto!

The name says it all, this hotel is stunning, peaceful and luxurious!
The service was amazing with very friendly staff who will help with anything you need during your stay. The decor is very fresh and modern but very homely at the same time. I would recommend Hotel Secreto to anyone visiting Isla Mujeres it was the best hotel experience i'v ever had!
