Owner description: Isla Mujeres Museum Capitan Dulche. This Museum is dedicated in loving memory of Captain Ernesto Dulche Escalante, founder or the 5th Naval Region (Isla Mujeres). Captain Dulche´s Maritime Museum treasures a big part of Isla Mujeres history, this is documented in a great photo collection of over 150 that have never been seen before. The Museum also contains an excellent collection of anchors, buoys, chains and lanterns, maritime tools and two projection rooms, showing one video of the famous mexican diver Ramon Bravo and the even more famous Jacques Cousteau. It also has the largest collection of model ships and metates in the whole mexican caribbean.

“FREE! Spent a few great hours relaxing, eating, drinking at the ocean!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2015

As my husband and I were staying at the Privilege Aluxes, we were told to go see Capt. Dulche's. We took our golf cart there which took only about 12 minutes. Capt. Dulche's was extremely clean and was very very quiet and peaceful the day we were there. We sat at lounge chairs on the beach, then went up by the rotating bar for lunch and drinks. The food was very good. There are 2 beautiful parrots on the property and gorgeous photo opportunities! We found a beautiful sea urchin on a rock in the water and conch shell in the sand. The museum was very interesting but a little dark and warm inside. I was told the A/C wasn't working that day. Overall, it was a nice day to spend there and enjoy the peace and quiet. (We were told that they have big weddings and events on the premises.) The bathrooms were very clean also!

“Quiet and Uncrowded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2015

We tried to stop by for a sunset drink only to find out the bar/restaurant were closing. That was a little disappointing because we heard this is a great location for watching the sun go down. We did come back and spent a few relaxing hours here enjoying the scenery and some cold drinks. Although we didn't eat, we did look at a menu. Food prices seem a little bit high. The beach area is very clean and beautiful but not the best for swimming. We enjoyed our time here, away from the crowds at North Beach.

“Great stop for drinks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2015

We often stop here during the day for a drink. The ground are very well kept and the bar looks like a pirate ship. This is a cool stop for a drink in the middle of the day.

“better than you think”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2015

Go there to hang out at the beach and have a nice lunch at Capitan Dulche's. Wander over to the dusty, dusky museum and be fascinated by the many photos on the walls, each accompanied by a story

“Beautiful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2015

This place is a must see. It has a HUGE palapa restaurant and a ship for an outside bar. It has small individual palapas on its beach. And best of all, there is no admission charge. Don't miss the parrots in the trees near the entrance.
