My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this gem while looking for some cheap eats. We were actually looking for a Cuban restaurant that we were told was located on Hidalgo street. After battling the gauntlet of vendors we came across this place. They were advertising a live Cuban band later that night. We decided to take a look at there menu and became intrigued with there Veracruz (Veracruz, officially known as Heroica Veracruz, is a major port city and municipality on the Gulf of Mexico in the Mexican state of Veracruz.) inspired dishes. We decided to try it and we were not disappointed. I had the avocados stuffed with shrimp and my girlfriend had plantains stuffed with cheese and ground beef. We both enjoyed our meals very much and highly recommend this restaurant to test your palate's abilities. We received top notch service and the food was decently priced for being located on Hidalgo street. We went on a Friday evening ate dinner and stayed for the live music, which started at 9:30pm. The band members were all from Cuba and played a variety of Latin music such as, salsa, merengue, cumbia, cha cha cha and bachata. They were wonderful! The restaurant is located upstairs so you can have a view of the street below. We were entertained by a group playing Samba style music on the street below. The type of crowd was mixed with locals, a good mix of tourist from every corner of the globe, and Mexicans from other states and Latinos from other latin countries such as, Cuba, Spain and Guatemala. If your looking for some good food and some entertainment for the night check them out.
