“For an authentic, uncrowded beach, come here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

This out-of-the-way beach is the best on IM by far, with shade, sand, waves, marine life, and never a crowd. Avoid the bland Playa Norte and come to a real Mexican beach, with excelent snorkeling, if you go out a ways, plenty of shade from adjacent boulders and trees, and great sand. It is quiet, and a nice glimpse of IM from 30 years ago. You'll love it!

“OK snorkeling, but a bargain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

The snorkeling at GC is average at best. Most of what you will see are the seargent major fish and a few parrot fish. It is nice that you are not required to wear a life jacket or buoyancy device like at the neighboring garrafon park, so you are free to dive down underwater. The shore is a bit rocky and can hurt your feet when entering the water- I recommend entering and exiting the water from the pier, which has carpet that provides decent traction. That being said, the price cannot be beat. This is a great place to take kids or anyone else that has never snorkeled before. The drinks are priced right and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. the bathrooms are a bit 'rustic' but overall are kept clean. I would recommend GC to anyone staying on isla.

“Nice place, nothing to see underwater”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Three stars for the facilities, which though basic are well-maintained, clean and overall pleasant to be in, with nice views and plenty of choices for shady or sunny spots to hang out. One star for the snorkeling. The water was warm and clear, but there was nothing to see -- literally. A few fish here and there, mostly in the main area where people feed them. We saw one pretty little blue fish, but other than that nothing colorful. No coral. I can see where this would be a nice place to bring kids to play in the water and feed the fish, but that’s about it. We didn’t eat anything so can’t speak to that – we had lunch at The Joint, just across the street, which was great.

“Not what it used to be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

A good alternative to Garrafon park as you can snorkel here for just 50 pesos. You will need to swim out a ways to see different fish as the ones closest to shore are the same. Worth a stop if your carting around the island.
