For anyone's first time to this country, this is a good place to stay for several reasons: it has most amenities we are accustomed to from living in US, the resort's location presents a great opportunity to observe the local culture and traditions, walking distance to newly built grocery store (think Target). The pluses: manicured landscape, close to the water, room service and restaurant on premises, flat screens TVs, ability to rent cars and golfcarts from premises, pool with bar, hammocks for every villa, secure entrance with guards 24/7. Room for improvement: suites on the small side, sewer smell permeating bathroom 24/7, staff courteous but limited English skills, punctuality; lots of mosquitos but no mosquito netting (bring repellant and use it daily); shower heads above jetted tub (difficult to get in and out of), VERY poor lighting (difficult to read), no mini fridges (unable to enjoy leftovers or any bought snacks needing refrigeration).
