“Reaped off at the Marina.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

Came in with my boat for shelter during last hurricane threat Rina.
Agreed to $1 per foot first night ,$2 a foot for following nights.
On check out , was charged $3 per foot by decision of the manager to hike price by 50% after I checked in! Pay or boat stays was the answer when I complained.
Made a lot of unhappy customers in 3 days .
Thirsty or hungry ,you better hurry ,Bar and restaurant close at 5 pm .

I am a Raintree Blue customer, I love Isla Mujeres !! I go there at teast once a year!!. People are very fiendly, nice and they have excellent service. It´s true that its NOT the Raintree Resort, But I love Isla. Its nice, secluded, safe, not expensive.

Excellent for scuba diving and fishing, you can always go and have fun at "El secreto" or stay at the private beach.

You take a Taxi for only a dollar to the hotel so DO not rent a CAR ITS NOT WORTH IT!! coming back and forth and all around the Island will NOT cost you more than 2 dlls!

If you are looking for rest and relaxation this is the island to stay. My husband and I booked this place through our timeshare for our anniversary. It a no frills place, so people that need the ALL INCLUSIVE 5 star luxury you better stay in Cancun. But if you want quiet, off the beaten path, majestic turquoise waters and very very cheap food/drinks stay at this Island of Women...We stayed 7 days at Villa Vera and had an absolute wonderful experience. The hotel is located in the middle of the island, about a 5 minute taxi ride ( $2.50 ) from the shopping area/port. We rented mopeds 3 of the days and scooted around the island and explored ourselves. We snorkeled for $4 per person at Castillo De Garaffon, which we found ourselves on our moped. It is right before the ever touristy and pricey Garrafon National Park. You will be snorkelling on the same reef and see the same fish for a fraction of the price. $4 per person as compared to $55 at the Garaffon Park. Keep on driving south towards the lighthouse and you will find a caribbean village and an awesome view. You can find dollar beers all over the main shopping/dining area on Hidalgo street, one we loved was Sancocho's. They had dollar fajitas as well as dollar beers and $5 fish fillets ( in the garlic sauce ). We would eat for $10 for lunch or dinner. The fish is very good anywhere you go and very very cheap. Playa Norte is awesome for sunset as well. I highly recommend a place called Playa Sol ( ask for ZIggy ) as long as you purchase one beer you can have the beach chairs for free all day. Happy hour though from 4 to 7 here is 2 for 1 beers. Perfect spot to watch the sunset. Do not spend the money at Casa Rolandi restaurant. The hotel will push it. We saw the same sunset at Playa Norte as well as same food on Hidalgo for a fraction of the price.
The hotel has an awesome pool, there prices are very high. We went to the market for water, snacks. The hotel was clean and staff was very courteous. It is on the marina side, not on the beach. So If you want to stay on the beach, dont stay here, or do what we did, rent scooters and go from beach to beach. This hote is not for kids. No ammenities for them. It is almost desolate and we were one of the only guests. It is very quiet, yet nice. I would say a 4 star, not a 5.
Overall awesome Island and good accomodations

We spent a week at this beautiful boutique resort on a lovely marina in January 2003. We had a Villa which included a2nd floor bedroom, balcony and master bath plus a first floor great room with small kitchen and 2nd bath. Couch could open for 2nd bed. There is a balcony off master bedroom and a covered porch with 2 chairs and a hammock. The lady who only stayed 2 hours really missed out on a onderful week. The room did smell musty when we first entered, but we opened the doors and ldft just the screened shutters closed and put on ceiling fans, and it freshened up in 5--10 min. We had wonderful staff bending over backward to service us. Tey paid for our taxi to & from the beach club, which was beautiful, calm water on white sandy beach. there is a palapa bar/restaurant that was also a great place to read and find shade. My husband enjoyed the hammock on the edge of the palapa (grass roofed shelter) and i found shade under a palm tree near the beach. One of our favorite experiences was awakening to live classical guitar music about 8:15 each morning. With our plantation shutter doors, the music lifted our spirits and started our day off with great joy. we ate breakfast in our room, or at a poolside table near the musician. We purchased his CDs so we could bring home the memories of such a wonderful vacation. The "superior" rooms would be like a regular hotel room, no kitchen. The "suite" rooms are a little bigger but lack a kitchen, but the "villa" size was absolutely wonderful. One could read in the leather recliner in master bedroom while other person could watch TV downstairs....it gave us a little space. We had dinner in the dining room and it was excellent, but a little more expensive...like fine dining in the states. We went into town walking a few times and took taxi other times. We took the bus back for 3 pesos. You can walk all over the town and to North Beach area without too much effort. Great exercise...pretty flat. North Beach is beautiful calmside. great place for children as it is shallow. Beautiful place to watch the sunset, have dinner and drinks. We felt very comfortable, safe and welcomed by the locals who spoke enough English that we had no trouble. We took taxi from airport to Puerto Moreles (sp?) and took ferry to island. No problem. They just put luggage at front of boat. It was a 20 minute ride on jet boat. If anyone has questions, just email me. Also, it would be fun to rent a scooter or golf cart to tour the rest of island for a day.

Just got back from a week here and it ranked top of all of the resorts that we have ever stayed at. The service was incredible! Staff was friendly, helpful and could not do enough for you. This ranks with any 5 Star that we have ever stayed at.The room was wonderful, the grounds beautiful, the pool perfect and live music w/breakfast and dinner. The island is charming, the people very friendly and we had a great time even with our very limited spanish, (very little). Be sure to eat downtown on Hildago street, a lot of the restaurants are located here. We took taxi most everywhere. Best place to have a romatic dinner, Casa O. Be sure to take the trip to Contoy and go to Garrafon.

We arrived at Villa Vera, wiped our feet on the dirty bath towel that serves as doormat to the lobby, checked in, got an immediate time share "hard sell' which we cut short. We discovered that the private water taxi to the private beach was "missing a part" and therefore out of service so we'd have to hire and pay a public taxi if we wanted to go there. Got to our room which smelled so intensely of mold and mildew that we couldn't believe it. The entire room would have had to be aired out, cleaned. linens washed, etc. before it could be livable with that smell. The room was dark and airless. The window blind was broken and the bathroom looked out at a shack or something. There was no soap, shampoo, hair dryer, guest info books, menu, paper, pen or any other small amenity which one would expect at a hotel that charges what it does. there is no privacy in the lower suites and the "master suite" which we had is very tiny and claustrophobic. In order to get air from the outside you have to leave the sliding doors open and allow the bees and flies to enter.
We couldn't stand the thought of spending even a single night there and packed up and moved ourselves to a big, comfy, luxurious Cancun hotel and were enormously relieved to be there!
This place needs major changes before it can be considered any kind of high-end resort. Never again..
