“Wonderful, Romantic and Charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2009

El Milagrao is a wonderful escape from reality and provides a lovely combination of romance and charm. When we arrived we were welcomed by the marina staff and, suprisingly, guests, when we were treated to an impromptu fish fry with the beautiful Mexican sunset backdrop. We were already thrilled with the charm of Isla Mujeres but the inviting cabana we called home for a week made our trip truly special.

Eric and Shelly's Marina El Milagro is a precious jewel in Isla Mjujeres. Just a 5 min cab ride from the charming town, the Villas are beautiful appointed with local art , gorgeous tile and fixtures. Very private, are equiped everything you need. Full kitchen, cable, TV, air conditioning, private beach on Marina.
Jaime and Julio are great hosts. They are very knowlegble about the island. They will help you with whatever you might need and will whip you up local lobster on the grill at the Palapa.
Bring a smile and some sunscreen and enjoy this very special place.
(just leave it like you found it please cause I am going back again and again)

My friends and I had a wonderful time at El Milagro. In fact, we are still going though withdraw 2 weeks later. Shelly and Eric are the perfect hosts along with their posse Julio, Jaime, Martin, Chic, Mike, and so many more. They have ping-pong, canoes, hammocks, beach, marina attached to a beautiful sunset every evening, delicious food, outside bath rooms/showers, laid back gatherings, swings, popcorn, directions, lots of information, great peeps and conversation. AND it is all at no additional charge. This place has everything you need and more. Luckily, it is located on a hidden little place in the middle of the ocean. If you are looking for something laid back, water related, or just want to hang with some great people. This place will keep you smiling even after you go back home. El Milagro, we love you guys and can't wait to see you again next time! Please give Brownie some love for us!

We found El Milagro on the website VRBO after quite a bit of searching other sites. We had found several other places that interested us, but after we found El Milagro, we knew it was the place. We were seeking an inexpesive but charming apartment for our stay, and this fit the bill perfectly. We were on the island for a week. We stayed in Villa One, the smallest of three rental units at the marina. Villa One is on the road side of the marina. The other two rentals are on the marina side. Still, we were very happy in Villa One. It was self contained with its own kitchen, clean and comfortable, and the we had the use of the entire marina. The best thing about El Milagro is the staff. Jaime, Julio, Jesus, Rodrigo and Sueme were very attentive and helpful. They were also a lot of fun just to hang out with in the evening. The marina includes a covered bar area, an outside kitchen, outside restrooms if you don't wish to return to your room, BBQ grills, a small beach with palapas, and two docks. One dock is for the boats staying at the marina, and the other is just for the enjoyment of the guests in the villas. They have a lot of equipment available for free use by guests, including kayaks and bicycles. It's a short cab ride to town, and the north beach. The cab rates are very reasonable, about two bucks a pop. We loved this place, and would return in a minute if there weren't so many other places to see. I expect we will return for a longer stay some day, and El Milagro is the place we would choose. It was a perfect fit.

I stayed in villa one at el milagro for a month, both alone, then with a friend. It was extremely reasonable, walking distance to town, (bikes provided free of charge). It is a working marina iwith 3 different apartments on the property, very safe, staffed 24 hours. It has wireless and cable tv. The english speaking staff , Jaime and Julio, will help with anything you need, be it a bag of shrimp, a golf-cart to rent for the day, or they will bbq your fish in the yucatan style for you.

We came to Isla for 7 days as part of a 2 week break in Mexico. After combing the internet for some private accomodation on the island and finding most of the good stuff booked and lots of expensive condos left we stumbled on El Milagro. Thank goodness we did. After 3 days on the island we decided against moving for the 2nd week back to the mainland. A major part of the decision was based on the fact that we loved where we were staying, and soon slipped into the relaxed atmosphere on Isla. Unfortunately, El Milagro was booked for our 2nd week so we had to move, we enjoyed the carribean side but missed the Marina.

We stayed in the penthouse apartment, it was 2 bed so we had a spare room(!). It's simply decorated and furnished but in a pretty Mexican way. The apartment had everything we needed, we only had to buy food and beer. The roof terrace was a great place sit and watch the sunset over the water. There was access to a bbq but we enjoyed eating out at the great variety of local Mexican restaurants (not the overpriced steak and italian places) so never got around to using it.

The marina is small and although there seemed to be a steady turnover of guests it was still a very peaceful place to be. The staff were friendly and very helpful although it would have helped us had we spoken more Spanish as only a couple had a good grasp of English. It offers a laundry service, free wi fi, a small beach with 4 loungers and 2 hammocks and free bicycles. There is a small shop that stocks the essentials at the front, for proper groceries head into town and the supermarket or indoor market.

The location is great, just close enough to be able to walk (15 mins) or cycle into the centre and far enough away to feel less like a tourist. Cabs are only 1.50USD if you don't have the legs. We enjoyed getting on the bikes heading out to find some really interesting places to stop and eat or have a drink and people watch, particularly towards the south end of Isla. Most guests on the island hire the golf carts which are fun but not great value unless there are 4 of you. They don't go fast but we were a bit concerned at the number of people drinking whilst driving, I guess the americans are used to doing that or maybe enjoyed the fact that they could get away with it.

Eric the owner and his staff made our holiday very simple and stress free. We hope to be back in Mexico again soon and wouldn't hesitate to spend some time relaxing at the marina. Next time I hope to make it to the mainland for more than an airport visit!
