“Delicious!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2010

My sister and I both had the Cuban sandwich and thought it was delicious! We tried to eat here our first day on the island, but she's closed on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant is very small, but you can order take away. Don't miss this place...i wished we could have eaten there more. Vivan, the owner, is adorable and has the most warm and friendly smile! She was as delightful as the food.

“A feel of being a local”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2010

We stayed at the Privilege with the all inclusive package, however the laid back beach town feel of the island made it natural to venture throughout the island. The first thing we wanted to search for was the many local eats found in the downtown area of the island. To avoid a potential bad experience we searched for reviews on tripadvisor.com and after reading some of the positive reviews on how good the authentic Cuban food was at Qubano , it didn't take further persuasion for us to choose this place.
The restaurant was located on Abasolo which is basically around the corner from Hidalgo (the street that's houses the majority of the restaurants and gift shops). The decor of the place immediately gave off a homely feel, after seating ourselves we were then given a genuinely warm welcome by Vivian the owner and chef of the establishment.
Upon review of the menu, my fiance and I both wanted to order everything! Of course after we came to our senses to enable our mind to decide instead of our stomachs, we settled on a cuban sandwich, vegetarian sandwich, sweet plantains, and fresh squeezed watermelon juice.
Aside from advising that this place is a must try, I will save myself the trouble of going any further into detail on the food by saying this, after we ate our food we tried to comeback here to order food to go prior to our departure of the island! Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough time on our part and the thought of the sandwiches has sadden me since it won't be obtainable again until we return to this island.

“Qubano in Isla Is The Bomb!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2010

I just got back from Isla last week with my family, ate at Qubano Restaurant 5 days straight, and absolutely would recommend this amazingly delicious restaurant to anyone coming to the island. Everyone on TripAdvisor talks about her Toston, Cuban sandwich and her watermelon water which are totally delectable, but what about her homemade turkey sandwich, which Vivian makes herself and cuts in chunks with a great spicy sauce on wonderfully toasted bread and her new crab meat sandwich with yummy avocado sauce served on garlic bread? These two sandwiches are out of control and my mouth just waters thinking about it. Vivian also has a frozen lemonade which will cool your body down, it is unbelievable. Miss you Vivian and wish you would open a restaurant here in DC so that I do not have to wait another year to taste your wonderful food.

“The Tostone is Heaven!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2010

I traveled all day to get to Isla Mujeres, and the first thing I did was eat at Qubano. My favorite meal is the tostone sandwich. It has the perfect amount of crunch and spice. Qubano has a very simple and welcoming feel. It is the best place to go to for a great lunch on the island. Vivian has a great personality and is extremely friendly, anyone who comes in she greets with a big smile! It would be a mistake to not have a meal at Qubano.
