We stayed at the Privilege with the all inclusive package, however the laid back beach town feel of the island made it natural to venture throughout the island. The first thing we wanted to search for was the many local eats found in the downtown area of the island. To avoid a potential bad experience we searched for reviews on tripadvisor.com and after reading some of the positive reviews on how good the authentic Cuban food was at Qubano , it didn't take further persuasion for us to choose this place.
The restaurant was located on Abasolo which is basically around the corner from Hidalgo (the street that's houses the majority of the restaurants and gift shops). The decor of the place immediately gave off a homely feel, after seating ourselves we were then given a genuinely warm welcome by Vivian the owner and chef of the establishment.
Upon review of the menu, my fiance and I both wanted to order everything! Of course after we came to our senses to enable our mind to decide instead of our stomachs, we settled on a cuban sandwich, vegetarian sandwich, sweet plantains, and fresh squeezed watermelon juice.
Aside from advising that this place is a must try, I will save myself the trouble of going any further into detail on the food by saying this, after we ate our food we tried to comeback here to order food to go prior to our departure of the island! Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough time on our part and the thought of the sandwiches has sadden me since it won't be obtainable again until we return to this island.
