“Qubano - Que bueno!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2010

This is the best Cuban sandwich on Isla Mujeres. In fact, this is the best Cuban sandwich I have ever eaten anywhere. Vivian offers nothing short of perfection on Qubano's brief menu. My girlfriend enjoyed her unique creation, a chicken toston sandwich - perfectly grilled chicken between slices of flattened, fried plantain instead of bread. Sweet and savory at the same time. The vegetarian sandwich on garlic bread was absolutely delicious.

Salads are wonderful, especially the Vivian salad. But don't even think of adding pepper or salt, or you will be personally chastised by Vivian - who is right - it is perfectly seasoned already!

But the real revelation of our visits to Quebano's was the watermelon water. Sounds redundant, I know, and I don't know why it's not juice, but I would gulp it every day if I could get it at home. It's like drinking a glass of perfectly ripe melon.

Vivian is an encyclopedia of info about Isla - don't hesitate to ask for recommendations and advice about everything. Thanks to the intimate space, you'll probably chat with the other guests as well - who will be both regulars and tourists.

Just sixteen seats, open Monday through Friday from 12-5. In a week-long visit, you can sample the entire, perfectly crafted menu. Don't miss it!

“Felt the love and joy at Qubano.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2010

Vivian's food is not only mouthwatering but made with the kind of love and care you can taste in every bite. I highly recommend eating there for lunch as soon as you step on the island and I guarantee you'll be back everyday she's open. I'm dreaming about the Vivian Salad and Toston sandwich right now. yummmmo

I'm planning my next trip already and Qubano is my first stop.

Regards,
Marissa from Chicago

“Cuban-Hungarian Food?!? In Mexico!!! YES!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2010

The best lunch you'll have on Isla Mujeres, hands down! If you you show up and all four tables are full, come back in half an hour, if they're still full, walk around the block again. Really, it's that good! Vivian is the nicest you'll lady you'll meet on Isla, but her food isn't fancy, modern, or cutting edge, it's just perfect. Take it from this professional chef, with only 7 or 8 items on the menu, they all need to be perfect...And they are. Good, honest, home cooked food, done right, by good people. If you want more, you're in the wrong place...And on the wrong island. If you visit Isla Mujeres for more than 24 hours and don't find time to visit Qubano, you shouldn't have come at all!
