“Unsure but pleased in the end”

On a whim my girlfriend and I booked a 5 night stay at Secrets Aura as a combined Christmas gift to each other. After reading some of the mixed reviews I was very leery of what we could expect and even considered canceling our trip.
In a nutshell here are the details of our trip. Food was ok, I'm a foodie and have high standards. The Preferred club is worth the money, the P Club concierge gets timely responses to almost all needs and the lounge is a good way to get an early or late drink. The preferred pool was the highlight of our trip, Marianna, Alberto & Ranelly were each outstanding in their jobs. It's tough to beat great service in warmer weather and these three went above and beyond to accommodate us. If any service stood out it was these three at the preferred pool. One watch out is "private" transfer or car service from the airport. It's all a taxi so do it yourself.
Realizing that Secrets is remodeling this resort, and based on the beauty and our pool service we will strongly consider a return visit.

My family (4 of us) booked two preferred rooms for a one week stay over Christmas and we had a great time. The room accommodations were luxurious, and everyone at the resort went out of their way to make our visit memorable. We think the cost was reasonable when you consider that this is an all inclusive resort. The weather was warm and sunny all but one day. We enjoyed using the sailboat and playing tennis at the resort, snorkeling right off the beach, going scuba diving, and renting motor scooters to tour the island. This was our 2nd time coming to Cozumel. We love coming here because the scuba diving is awesome. We loved going to the cafe with the specialty coffees each morning. The food and drink (all-inclusive) at this resort was very good at all the restaurants. We especially enjoyed the Bordeaux Restaurant. I must admit that three of us did have stomach issues (not sure if it was the food or water or something else) about three days into the trip and this lasted for about 10 days altogether. We could still eat and drink but then things ran right through us if you know what I mean. It was a minor setback which did not prevent us from enjoying our stay overall.
Last year, we were at Turks and Caicos for Christmas, and although we enjoyed the beach, weather, snorkeling and restaurants, we were very disappointed in The Sands at Grace Bay accommodations and how we were treated by the staff there. Secrets Aura Cozumel was so, so much better.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor of the preferred section with partial water view. The view from the ba...

Absolutely loved this resort. Stayed in the Preferred Club section and it was perfect for relaxation and activities both. The rooms were stellar; clean, spacious and lovely. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. First time at an all inclusive and enjoyed not having to pay a bill after every meal or drink, that added to the relaxation. We tipped well for good service though as we appreciated the staff very much. The private pool was wonderful and the beach was right behind it. The restaurants were excellent, really enjoyed the food. The chef at Oceana cooked our fresh catch from a fishing excursion and it was fabulous. The parasailing and snorkeling are second to none. This is the perfect resort for couples and friends. Cozumel is easy to get to and has a very nice airport that makes traveling there almost effortless. We will be back!

Room Tip: Stay in the Preferred Club section if you can. Private pool, great rooms, wonderful staff, extra spe...

Having a great time at this resort in Cozumel. Service is amazing and rooms are the best we've stayed in on the island. 15 minutes to downtown and sets on the most amazing water ever. Snorkeling is something you have to do if you come here. Very reasonable prices.

We visited Secrets Aura in January 2015 and it by far exceeded our expectations. The Staff was wonderful and the accomodations were excellent. Very clean rooms, great variety of restaurants in addition to great food. We had a swim Junior Suite and it by far was amazing. The entire staff from check in to check out was fantastic and great options for excursions. Beach was great and maintained daily. We will definetly be returning to this resort!!!

Room Tip: Rooms close to the ocean are more quiet and laid back. The rooms in the back of the resort are more...

I can be a tough critic but our stay was great. I went with my GF and we had a blast.

I was pleasantly surprised they the guests weren't that rowdy. There was one group if inconsiderate my loud people but they were celebrating. So. I understand. Plus nothing the venue can really do about that.

My only two "complaints" we're that the beautiful pool wasn't heated and just too cold and the rooms only had AC and no heat. Understandable in Mexico but for the rate we paid, I want that optionality.

Food was fine. Views were awesome. Drinks flowing. Great time.

If you're interested in renting any vehicles, don't do it through the hotel. Take a cab to town and save yourself $100+.
