We just returned yesterday from 5 days at the Aura Wyndham in Cozumel. We have traveled to the Yucatan before, so we had skepticism of the resort quality. Our final two choices were the Aura Wyndham or the Occidental. We chose the Wyndham because of the all-inclusive pricing, adults only policy, and the Trip Advisor reviews. We couldn't have had a better experience at this hotel.

From the moment we arrived, the first class quality of the hotel was evident. We were greeted with champagne and a fresh washcloth while we checked in. We were shown to the room by a most pleasant steward, and given the quick tour. All of the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and in tune with any requests.

The food is unbelievable. Way above our expectations. We live in Dallas, where we dine at fine restaurants, and know what to expect in good service. They did not miss a beat on any of our requests. The Isola restaurant is amazing - especially the seafood dishes. Our first night, we had a 5 course meal. The servers even properly switch out silverware to match what is ordered, and during the meal to match up with appetizers, salads, main courses, etc. My only slight disappointment was the Filet Minion, but we are spoiled by top steakhouses in Dallas. The filet was good, but not a big filet like the size of your fist like they serve at Del Frisco's or Bob's.

The beach is very nice, the pool was cleaned daily, they are quick to provide fresh beach towels and drinks poolside, and everything is manicured and maintained. The staff really takes pride in their work, and it shows. The beds are amazingly comfortable, and the rainforest showerhead was perfect. We had an ocean view room on the second floor, and would do the same. Don't pay for the upgrade to the junior suite on the 3rd level with a small private pool on the roof - the people we met who had that say that they didn't use it. That's probably a better option during the busy season.

Other reviews mention the mosquitoes. They are there (as well as every other part of Cozumel in October), but because of the rains they have had over the last 3 weeks. Don't bother to take your own mosquito repellant - spring for the $10 can that the resort sells. It REALLY works! It must have something in the formula that is banned in the US - the aerosol propellant is strong smelling for about 2 seconds, then you never smell it again.

The diving was amazing, and Juan can arrange a dive, even for first timers, right from the activity hut on the beach. He will also work to arrange fishing, snorkeling, or other activities with other couples looking to share expenses on larger boats.

We went to Aura because it was our 10 year anniversary. If we had just found this place 10 years earlier, I'd say once you consider the food, overall cost, scuba diving quality, and ease of travel from the states, it beats our Hawaii honeymoon in my book.

If you know you're going to Cozumel, and want an excellent hotel sans children, my recommendation is to stop looking at the other hotels in Cozumel, and go stay at Aura. You won't be disappointed.

As you, I base most of my future destinations on the reviews on Tripadvisor. I just want to tell you that this is the first one I've written a review and I'm doing it because this is simply the best all-inclusive resort I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. You've already heard of some of the people like Anabel, Francisco, Marcial, Rucel, Antonio, Margarito, Giovanni, Luis, Generoso, Moises, Mauricio and so many more. These are the people that make sure you're constantly enjoying yourself. The food (all a la carte) was very good to excellent and with fabulous presentation. The grounds are exceptionally maintained and the resort is just the right size to allow for a quiet and relaxing stay. One piece of advise, you might want to take mosquito repellant with you as they can be ferocious at night. Of course, this comes with the territory and wouldn't deter me from returning as soon as possible.

Have just returned from Aura and must say we had a great time. After I booked the reservation I read some reviews that this was a resort for "alternative lifestyles" which we are not into - I am happy to report that I saw no evidence of this.

Room was great, bed was very comfortable. Booked room on 3rd floor with private pool but was not available when we arrived so they put us in a swim up, the next day we went to look at 3rd floor room because the thought of the private pool was neat but there was not any furniture up with the pool - simply a pool and with the mosquito problem (keep reading) we decided not to mess with the hassle. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Mosquitoes were unbearable to say the least! Prevented us from being able to enjoy being outside anywhere in the evenings! I returned home looking like I have chicken pox - no exaggeration!

Went deep sea fishing on 'Cuzamil' boat with Peppy, Jesus and Miguel, they were great - highly recommend them. We paid $350 for 4 hours and tipped them an additional $150 for their hard work. Caught wahoo (55" and 40") and several others. Brought wahoo steaks back and chef prepared them for us that night - delicious.

Sorry, I am just getting around to writing a formal review.

I found the Aura to be just about perfect. I say just about as since we are here on earth there must be something wrong but I honestly don't know what it would be. We had a corner swim up swim out suite. The beds are so comfortable - the light in the headboard unique. Flat screen T Vs are great. The bathrooms were beautiful and the plumbing works beautifully. The food was fabulous! The staff were very welcoming and helpful. True professionals. Oswaldo went out of his way to help me retrieve a receipt from one of the shops at the Wyndham. If you choose this resort for a get a way you will not regret it!

We booked our vacation sight~unseen after reading some reviews on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed! The hotel staff, from the moment we arrived until we called for a taxi back to the airport was very friendly and helpful (Jesus, Anabel, Rene, Antonio, Margarito to name a few. There is no way to remember them all since everyone was so nice). The grounds were immaculate and the swim~up room was the BEST!

As newly certified scuba divers we found the dive shop to be very accommodating. Juan and Alfonso were friendly and knowledgable as well as the staff aboard the dive boat. For those not interested in scuba the dive shop also offered: parasailing (SOOOO FUN!), waverunners, kayaks, snorkel gear, etc.

We highly recommend renting a scooter (via the concierge) for a downtown shopping trip or just a sightseeing venture around the coastal highway.

The food was AMAZING and presented beautifully. We have visited many all~inclusive resorts and Aura had the best food BY FAR! You felt like you were dining at a fine restaurant. Even the 24 hour room service menu was delicious and the portions were just right! The adult beverages were wonderful (and not watered down).

This is definitely somewhere we will visit again! The adult only atmosphere was a PERFECT quick weekend getaway for busy parents.

The only thing we would do differently is pack some mosquito repellant. After all the rain they were BAD and we had some itchy souvenirs to take home with us.

TIPS: If you plan on having a candelight dinner on the pier be sure and book it early (before arrival would even be better if possible). They only have one dinner a night and it's booked pretty far in advance but well worth the wait.

Overall we give this hotel 5 stars!
...will be adding photos soon!!!!!!
