We arrived in Cozumel really needing a relaxed time and Casa Viento was perfect. A short taxi ride out of town but a million miles away from the touristy centre. Rooms were clean, quiet and good value. Owners were lovely and helpful with local restaurant and diving recommendations.

I took the opportunity to have a taster of kite-surfing which was great. Really patient instruction and my only regret was that I couldn't stay longer and learn more.

Pool and terrace were great. Casa Viento deserves to do really well. Hope to return one day.

Just got back from a weeklong honeymoon in Cozumel and I have to say staying at Casa Viento was one of the highlights of the trip.

Everything was perfect from the room to the pool to the hospitality and friendliness shown to us by Lisa, Nicole and everyone else at Casa Viento.

Even when there was an issue with the power, the staff made all the calls to get the issue fixed quickly and didn't even charge us for the nights that the issue occurred.

The surroundings are great (check out the pix) and provide a perfect setting for a quiet, relaxing time.

If you go be sure to say hi to the 3 dogs on the property, as well as the whistling bird and also the geckos, toads and crabs that come out at night.

Town is about a 5 dollar taxi ride away but there is snorkeling, beaches and one hell of a lobster restaurant within walking distance (La Lobsteria, we went there twice)

Skip all those gigantic resorts and come here!!

My fiance and I loved Casa Viento, we spent 9 amazing nights there and didn't want to leave. It's so close to the airport, we were standing on the beach within 1/2 hour of landing. Rooms were clean, comfortable and felt like home. The pool was refreshing and the beach was gorgeous. Our hosts, Lisa & Ed knew all the BEST restaurants to eat at, beaches to snorkel at, and places to visit. Our other hosts Lulu, Rosie & Rico (the dogs) were great too - nothing better then their morning greetings. Casa Viento will always hold a special place in our hearts, between the parasailing, the snorkeling, the kiteboarding lessons, swimming with the dolphins, Ed's beach bar island tour, scuba diving, mini golf, horseback riding, dancing at Frogs, amazing, private in room massages from Rachel and then getting engaged on the beach our last morning there, we can't wait to go back!

  • Liked — It was private but convienant to everything
  • Disliked — Having to leave

My husband and I spent a total of four nights at CV this May 2007 for
our 5th anniversary trip. I am so thankful to Trip Advisor for enabling me to find this guest house. For the first two nights we stayed in room #5 right next to the pool. The room was painted a soothing Caribbean blue and also featured a large walk-in closet (bonus! I wasn't tripping over our backpacks and snorkel gear everyday) and very comfortable bed. The hammock on our front porch quickly became my favorite spot on the property. CV is a short walk (less than 5 min.) to a white sand beach. Another 15-20 minute walk down the beach and you'll find great snorkeling (in front of El Coz and Playa Azul). The Playa Azul Beach Club is great for lunch and they are oneof the few places on the island that accepts credit cards.

We spent several nights on the mainland and then made our way back to Cozumel for two more nights at CV. This time we had the pleasure of staying in the Honeymoon Suite. This room is one-of-a-kind with a view that is priceless. It is located at the highest point of CV - up several flights of stairs (it has it's own large patio). It features another very comfy bed, coffee maker, fridge, microwave, and much, much more.

The rooms are wonderful at CV, but it's the bonuses that will keep us coming back. First, Lisa (the Californian owner) is a wealth of information, as well as a fun and comfortable person to be around. The three Chihuahuas who call CV home are also a great addition and helped me cope with being away from my "baby" (a 75 lb German Shepherd - I'm usually a big dogs only person - who knew tiny dogs could be so much fun?). Tiki, the whistling parrot, only added to the happy, relaxing environment of Casa Viento. We also loved the location - even though we had to taxi quite often (next time we will rent a car), it was so lovely to come back to our quiet little corner of the island each night.

As I sipped a glass of wine while reclining in the pool on our last night at CV and our last night on Cozumel, I couldn't help but think of those t-shirts that read "Life is Good." Life is GREAT at Casa Viento and Ryan and I can't wait to go back. Thanks for everything Lisa! Hopefully we'll see you soon.

Extras:
*Closest ATM (at The Melia, about a 5 min. walk)
*Taxi from airport cost $7 or 70 Pesos
*Taxi to town costs $5 or 50 Pesos (catch it in front of The Melia)
*Water is available in the main house from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. so plan accordingly.
*Closest restaurant for dinner is The Lobster House, expensive, but great ambiance and service (Ryan liked the food better than I did). Be sure to ask Lisa to direct you to the right Lobster House and give you the lowdown on the lobster house drama.

  • Liked — The overall ambiance.
  • Disliked — nothing.

The house and the grounds are beautiful. Great place for multi generational family vacation. I think there are 8 bedrooms and bathrooms. Beach is a 1 minute walk, the pool on the property is set in a beautiful garden. Nic & Lisa were great hosts and the beds were sooooo comfortable. Lots to do in Cozumel, or you can just kick back and relax.
