We absolutely love this place. We were in Cozumel in the end of july 2007 and didn't know what to expect. We booked it on the internet and arrived very late at night. But no problem at all...in fact: the inn-keepers Scott and Cindy have thought about really EVERYTHING! There was this little box next to the gate which you can open with a code they've send us by e-mail. So even late at night you can always enter your beautiful and very clean room.
The atmosphere is really great and the rooms are just splendid! Especially the kitchen and relax-place on the roof is magnificent!
And of course Scott and Cindy themselves...fantastic people with good advice for anything you want to know.
We tried, after a 5 days-stay, to imagine a thing (just one) that Scott and Cindy could improve in their modern and still very cozy inn...but we could not think of one single thing what should be improved. Okay...the fact that the inside waterfall (!!!!!) was not working yet when we arrived. But I'm defenitely sure that we will stay once more in the Coral Reef Inn in the future so we can check it out. This place is the best you can get.
--- You won't regret it !!!---

  • Liked — The rooms were just great! And the staff was really friendly and helpfull
  • Disliked — That the taxi-drivers didn't knew this place (probably because it's very new)

Scott and Cindy are great, the price is fantastic, and the rooms are perfect! I found this great place on Trip Advisor when looking around trying to decide where to go on our honeymoon. We didn't pick the Coral Reef because of Cozumel, we really picked Cozumel because of the Coral Reef Inn! My husband wanted a great place to dive without paying and arm and a leg, so I looked on Trip Advisor to see if anything would be good in Cozumel. I never looked back when I found Scott and Cindy's place. My travel agent kept trying to sell me on a cruise or on an all-inclusive place. She was pretty mystified as to what place would be so great that we would drop her like a hot potato. :)
The rooftop covered patio always has the ocean breeze; even when it's still hot mid-day, you can grill or have a margarita up there and be cooled down nicely. You can either hang out and get to know someone else, or more than likely, have the peaceful place all to yourselves up there. If you get bored (insert laugh), you can have internet access for your laptop or they have a lot of novels people bring and swap/leave. They also have sunscreen sitting around in case you forget it. The huge walk in tile shower with h*ller good pressure will be your best friend, besides the free ice and pure water in the cooler upstairs.
Scott and Cindy are laid-back, and trust you to tell them at the end of your stay what extras you may incur, such as your dive trips and any loads of laundry you might do. Yeah, you dive through Dive Paradise, you do your laundry on site, and you tell them when you leave what you owe extra. No forms, no doubting your word, these guys are wonderful. They also give you coupons and tips on which places to eat at, and which to avoid that are overpriced.
You can't say enough about them, but to conclude, you'd be losing out to stay anywhere else!!!

I've been to Cozumel about 8 times , my husband has been 4 times and we both love Coral Reef Inn. I've stayed at the top rated hotels on the island and one smaller B&B but I really loved staying at Coral Reef Inn. Normally we like to stay at a place on the water- the views are just great BUT sometimes we would suffer through a crappy hotel room with bad hard double beds, an AC that doesn't work properly and a shower that was a trickle or only luke-warm. I swear on all my trips it was one of those things to put up with in one of the rooms... seems like I was always requesting a new room because of something not working properly. Why I loved Coral Reef Inn? Great king beds, super clean rooms, a great shower with actual shower pressure, an AC that really cools the room down, fridge in the room to store/cool drinks. They have a great rooftop patio with an open air kitchen- great to relax and hang out at. We loved it and can't wait to come back- It will be our first choice for sure. We aren't scuba certified yet but when we go for it we'll book with Coral Reef inn and Dive Paradise for a super package. The owners of the inn (Scott and Cindy) and wonderful "real" people who are very accommodating and fun to talk to and have tons of tips on the island. If you've never stayed off of the water and want to give it a try then try Coral Reef Inn- You'll love it !

We highly recommend Coral Reef Inn!!

First of all, Cozumel is a wonderful place to vacation! We have been to Europe and many Caribbean islands, but this was our favorite spot to "park it" thus far. It's beautiful, affordable, and relaxing. The people are so friendly, and we felt very safe. We will be back!

We traveled to Cozumel to get scuba certified for our anniversary. Scott and Cindy at the Coral Reef Inn provided a dive package that was totally affordable. When we arrived, we found an immaculately clean room with great A/C and a large tile bathroom (with a great shower!). What was even better for us than the clean, yet simple, room was a communal rooftop kitchen and dining area under a thatched roof. We spent a lot of time up there enjoying the island breezes while studying for our scuba exam. The kitchen was fully stocked with every appliance we could ever need, plus utensils, plates, glasses, and even spices and condiments! We kept our food there without a problem, and most of the time, felt like it was our own house since we usually had it to ourselves! Scott and Cindy were always available with restaurant recommendations (great picks!) and local advice. The inn was in a quiet residential area away from the main tourist areas, yet within easy walking distance of a large grocery store and everything in town. We felt totally at home and totally relaxed because of our relaxing inn!

I highly recommend the Coral Reef Inn as an economical, clean, simple, and friendly place to stay. It is great for couples and we enjoyed getting to know the other folks staying there, who were so friendly. We would definitely go back (and hope to!)

After MUCH research on the best value for a SCUBA vacation...we decided on Coral Reef Club. The pictures and description are very descriptive, so I won't double up on the info. The accomodations, along with the diving, is the BEST value in town. One welcome tank for a shore dive upon arrival, 7nights, 5 two tank mornings & 4 one tank afternoons...ALL BOAT DIVES! If you're diving, you'll need to get to the Barracuda every morning @8a. It's less than a 10 minute walk, but after 5 days back & forth & maybe again for an afternoon/night dive...the walk gets a little exhausting - not to worry, though, boucoup taxis offering the $3 ride back. Besides the obvious comforts and value of having your own al fresco kitchen & equipment rinsing station, a great value to this place is the fact that there are two, young, energetic and knowledgable americans who run the place...no communication problems (my spanish is weak) and were spot on is recommending things we'd appreciate and warning us from things that might dissappoint. Scott & Cindy saved us time & money, e.g. walk to the road at the airport for a taxi and save $20, taxi drivers don't expect tip, so save it. Unless we needed them, they were invisible! It really was like we owned the place. The ONLY thing keeping this from being a luxury hotel is that there is no "service"or fancy furniture...again, just like home. As kind as Scott & Cindy are, I imagine if you asked for ANYTHING they'd try hard to please you, anyway. The biggest tip I could give you is to walk down (3 blocks) to the grocery, buy a bottle of tequila, some coffee, eggs, fresh fish, oranges, tortillas, beer, walk it back & stick it all in the fridge. We grilled some peppers & fresh fish under moonlight & had a romantic meal...Keep in mind, this is all rooftop on the third floor. While we did drink only bottled water, we had NO problem with fish, eggs or produce. Have coffee & eggs in the mornings & watch the nuns accross the street going through their morning ritual. Instead of blowing your budget at Margaritaville, invite some friends or dive buddies over, turn on the rope lighting upstairs, put a cd in the player, pop some beers and sit under the stars until the early hours enjoying Cozumel's perfect midnight weather...Your friends will admire your savy in choosing such a great place & regret their decision to stay at their all-inclusive. Knowing Cozumel well now, this is the only place we'll stay.
