During our many years of traveling the globe we have experienced a wide variety of accommodations from five stars to tent. What wonderful accommodations provided by the Coral Reef Inn, at the very top of our Small Inn category.
Cozumel offers a lot to experience; superb scuba diving, snorkeling a layed back environment and very friendly local people. It is the interaction with the people that makes staying at the Coral Reef so enjoyable and easy. You could stay within a four-block radius of the inn and enjoy a complete vacation.
The Inn is located in the Corpus Christy neighborhood, across the street from the large Church that names the area. A five-minute walk permits you to obtain grocery items and prepare dinner from a large national chain supermarket or gather more simple fare from independent merchants such as fruit, vegetables or fresh made tortillas. There are quite a number of inexpensive restaurants also available should you want to go out. Try Los Tortugas in the afternoon-great snacks.
Access to the water is within this 4-block zone and in fact we were picked up daily by boat to scuba dive the reefs. If you are not a scuba diver simply snorkel the ocean or swim the pool (with swim-up bar) just down the street. Should you need a pharmacy there are at least two close by. The islands largest nightclub is at the edge of this zone as well. Getting the idea? I am not exaggerating when I state that a whole vacation is within 4 blocks.
The Inn itself is brand spanking new and super clean. Large comfortable rooms, great beds, bedding, large fluffy towels and a shower in the washroom that was gigantic. The air conditioning was super efficient - turn it on and the whole room was cool in seconds. I have never experienced that kind of AC service in the tropics anywhere. A large TV as well as wireless Internet connectivity is in each room but frankly I go on vacation to escape those things. The third floor offered not only a completely equipped kitchen for guest use but also a wonderful view of the surrounding neighborhood.
Scott and Cindy are the proprietors of the Coral Reef Inn and built the facility to their own specifications. They were gracious hosts throughout offering assistance when it was needed (Scott arranged some very specialized diving information and pricing for a dive trip we took) and leaving us to our own whims when we didn't.
Do I recommend the Coral Reef Inn? Indeed I do. In fact I may see you there in March as my Wife and I intend to visit again this spring.
