Although I had not been to Cozumel for over 10 years, staying at the Coral Reef Inn made it feel like Cozumel before development and hurricanes.

My experience at the Coral Reef Inn was so good I can not think of staying anywhere else ever again. Everything worked, it was comfortable and the patio kitchen was well equiped for do it yourself cooking (the tourist restaurants have gotten very expensive), the super market is a couple of blocks down the street and they have everything you need. Yes! there is free wi-fi connection so bring your lap top for email but save the surfing for the east side of the island.

Transportation is convenient as there are plenty of taxis around most all the time and getting to the caleta is easy and not too expensive (~4.00 one way). To return just tell the driver the Coral Reef Inn is on the north side of Corpus Christi Church.

My diving was on the Anita and although I was concerned that Rodolfo had retired, Emilio was more than a replacement. He made the diving on the Anita much better than I remembered. Thanks Emilio! The reefs are coming back year by year but even now the diving was really great. The sponges are the first to recover and with the sponges come the turtles. Thanks to Emilio I have lots of good pictures to remember this trip by. Here are two from the August trip.

We have stayed Coral Reef Inn for 5 nights in late August for diving in Cozumel. Every place in this Inn was very clean (room, Kitchen, Lounge area). The room we stayed was equipped with AC, Fan, TV, Refrigerator and good (and hot!) shower and very comfortable to stay for a few nights.
The Inn was 10~15 minutes away from busy main tourist road and very quite (we have not been disturbed by any noises during our stay). The supermarket is only 5 minutes walk from the Inn and you can buy everything there to cook breakfast through dinner. The Inn's kitchen has all cooking equipments so all you need to buy is food.
We used a diving shop at Hotel Barracuda (called "Dive Paradise" - which was also very good diving shop) and it was only 15 minute walk to get there (with scooter, only 3 minutes). Taxi is cheap and readily available in Cozumel (only $3~4 to get to Downtown and they are everywhere), so staying away from Downtown or coastal road had almost no inconvenience for us.

Lastly, the owners are really kind and nice and made our stay very enjoyable and absolutely stress-free. We really liked our diving experience at Cozumel and we will be definitely back to Coral Reef Inn in near future!

My wife and I just spent our 4 day honeymoon at the Coral Reef Inn and had a wonderful time. The Inn has beautiful rooms, with good a/c and nice bathrooms. The owners, Jerry and Leona are very nice and provided some great recommendations on local food.

The inn is about 10-15 minute walk from the center of Cozumel and only about a $3 taxi ride. It is also close to a huge grocery store, a movie theater, and several delicious restaurants.

After our busy wedding, this was a perfect place for a honeymoon. The third floor is an open air kitchen area with a thatched roof that is just great for hanging out. My wife and I bought some beers and cigars and just sat up there for most of the trip, enjoying the views and the nice weather. For the value and quality, I would highly recommend the Coral Reef Inn to any traveler.

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at the Coral Reef Inn in May. The hosts were great and offered perfect recommendations from restaurants to snorkeling trips. The room was the best we stayed in during our 10 day trip to Mexico. The location is convenient - close enough to walk into town and right down the street from a grocery store. We could not have been happier with our decision to stay at the Coral Reef Inn!

It being our first time out of the country my husband and I were very nervous. But the place was just as discribed! Very clean, very quiet and the roof was a very nice place to sit and look at the stars. Jerry was very nice and helped us when we had a problem with our bank. Its walking distance to a big grocery too. We enjoyed our stay here and hopefully can return someday.

  • Liked — The quietness and it was very comfortable.
  • Disliked — That it wasnt on the beach. But we drove so no problem.
