Although I had not been to Cozumel for over 10 years, staying at the Coral Reef Inn made it feel like Cozumel before development and hurricanes.
My experience at the Coral Reef Inn was so good I can not think of staying anywhere else ever again. Everything worked, it was comfortable and the patio kitchen was well equiped for do it yourself cooking (the tourist restaurants have gotten very expensive), the super market is a couple of blocks down the street and they have everything you need. Yes! there is free wi-fi connection so bring your lap top for email but save the surfing for the east side of the island.
Transportation is convenient as there are plenty of taxis around most all the time and getting to the caleta is easy and not too expensive (~4.00 one way). To return just tell the driver the Coral Reef Inn is on the north side of Corpus Christi Church.
My diving was on the Anita and although I was concerned that Rodolfo had retired, Emilio was more than a replacement. He made the diving on the Anita much better than I remembered. Thanks Emilio! The reefs are coming back year by year but even now the diving was really great. The sponges are the first to recover and with the sponges come the turtles. Thanks to Emilio I have lots of good pictures to remember this trip by. Here are two from the August trip.
