“Best Hotel in Cozumel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

My wife Dr. Yazmin and I love this hotel. We have been coming here for over 6 years and as locals, we find this hotel is a great way to escape from our jobs in town. Peaceful, quiet, and a true romantic spot to unwind. The long-time staff are always incredibly friendly people. The mornings come with an authentic Mexican style breakfast which is quite filling and always delicious. We recently had one of their new Chef's dinner's and it was AMAZING and only $12 per person. My only complaint is that the prices have risen from $100/night to $148. We did receive our local rate but it is still high. I would recommend to the owner to bring the prices back down to where they were (you will have more clients) and to have successful long-term management.

My boyfriend and I spent 7 amazing days at Ventanas Al Mar located on the quiet, peaceful east side of Cozumel with friends that have stayed at Ventanas now 3 years in a row. Ventanas is like a "bed and breakfast" on the ocean. It's eco friendly and powered by a generator. All the rooms have a balcony (with chairs) with an oceanfront view and the sound of waves crashing 24/7; fantastic view of sunsets, sunrises and beautiful night stars. There was no air conditioning, but it was not needed because of the constant ocean breeze. Breakfast was served every morning which was included in the cost of the room. Dinner (chicken or fish) was offered by request for an additional nominal fee; wine was also available with dinner ( additional fee) upon request. Coconuts Beach Bar is located next to Ventanas; short pathway walk. Although taxis travel to the east side of Cozumel, I would recommend renting a car as there are several other great beaches (Punta Sur) and restaurants (Playa Benito) to visit on this side of Cozumel. The staff at Ventanas was very friendly and attentive, including Julio Padilla, the manager a native of Cozumel. Julio was very knowledgable about local restaurants (El Moro) , attractions, transportation, etc. Downtown Cozumel is approximately a 25-minute drive from, Ventanas. If you are looking to connect with nature, escape from busy tourist areas and 5-star amenities is not important then visit Ventanas- It's a Gem!

Room Tip: Room 26 was an end room with an amazing view.

We had a pleasant 4 day stay at Ventanas Al Mar. It is located right next to Coconuts on the east side of the island and offer rooms that have breath-taking views of the ocean. This is a no-frills hotel, but is really a nice place to come and relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. They have a nice complimentary cooked to order breakfast every morning around 7:30 am and even offer a limited dinner menu served around 7:00 pm that is reasonably priced at $12 US.

A couple of mornings we didn't have electricity for a short time and didn't always have hot water for our morning shower, but this did not put a damper on our stay. Also, be prepared for the sound of the surf at night and if you are a light sleeper, it may tend to keep you awake.

The staff was always friendly and receptive to our needs.

You may need a car if you want to travel into town, but taxi service is available.

Feb/14 was our 4th trip to Ventanas since discovering this little bit of Paradise in 2008. We never get tired of the beauty and quiet of this place.Great to see many of the staff who have been there since 2008. They treat us like family. There has been some new improvements; no more wind generators, consistent power and water pressure and new patio doors. No air conditioning, but with fans and that ocean breeze we haven't needed it.There is a small pool under construction which will be a welcome addition to the resort. Breakfast was always included but with the limited options for dinner in the area, it was great to see dinner now offered for a fee. Tony, the cook did a great job. Presentation and value.
There is a new Manager, Julio on site. What a delightful man! Warm, personable, funny, very helpful. We know that we will return many more times. Heaven and Paradise in one.

Room Tip: All rooms face the ocean but we like the ones without a balcony. Walk out on ground level.

We just got back from a wonderful vacation. The Ventanas al Mar is a place I recommend. If you like privacy, with a great view, this is the place for you. The food, is very good, along with clean rooms, great beach to enjoy the sun, and our host ( the manager, Julio ) made our trip worthwhile. If you can, just check out the pictures of this place and then decide. I've been to at least twenty hotels on. Cozumel, and this is the best hotel on the island. Just believe, and your dreams will come true

Room Tip: The pool is not finished yet, but almost, and we never saw a fitness room, I guess we were to busy

My wife and I had just left Coconut Joes when we stopped at Ventanas and happened to meet one of the owners and his wife who invited us in for a tour given to us by the manager. The rooms were very nice, clean and airy. There is no AC or fans but with each room facing the ocean the breeze keeps everything cool. As it happened the host invited us to join them for dinner on Valentines evening and I can say unequivocally it was the best meal we had in the two weeks we were on the island.
Although we did not stay at this hotel it would be on the top of my list should we return. If you are looking for seclusion, great views, gracious hosts, then this hotel is well worth considering. It is not a resort and has limited capacity consequently an ideal place to relax but also well located for exploring if you have a car.

My fiancee and I stayed in an all inclusive resort on Cozumel in december of 2012. While taking a scooter ride on the east side, we saw this hotel and simply had to stop and check it out. Accomodations are clean, but sparse. No phones, tv's (who needs a tv?) and electricity is limited, but more than enough to charge electronic gadgets. My fiancee told me I was nuts as I paid $100 for one night, even though we had a room back at our resort. We went back to our resort, packed some things, rented a car and then stopped at the Mega mart in San Miguel to buy a foam cooler, ice, soda, alcohol and some food. At that time, there was no dinner options at the hotel.

We simply had a fabulous stay. The ocean breeze coming through the patio doors was amazing as we ate our dinner, had a few drinks. The stars at night were simply breathtaking and then being sung to sleep by the waves crashing outside our room. Then we woke to an amazing sunrise!

Keep in mind there are only 14 rooms, and this is the only property of any kind for any distance on the east side so there is no crowds, no noise other than the surf crashing on the rocks. The beach is huge, only downside to the beach is the trash that washes ashore.

The staff was very friendly, breakfast was good, freshly made for us not a buffet, and plenty of hot water for showers.

We simply loved the adventure.

Room Tip: There isn't a bad room in the place. 2 level suites were interesting, but the standard rooms ar...
