Everyone working at the Vista Del Mar is so helpful and accomodating! We loved our stay there. The first couple of nights, we had not opted to upgrade to an ocean view room, so we over looked the small alley way market below. Noise was not a problem because the shops closed around dinnertime and didn't open until 8 or 9 the next night. After a couple of nights, we inquired about an ocean view room and upgraded for a little more money. We are glad we did- the room was quite a bit bigger, and having the balcony was almost like having another room altogether.
The hotel is spotlessly clean, but the bed and pillows are not the most comfortable. The first room we stayed in had low water pressure and limited hot water. We thought this was just due to the fact that we were on an island, until we changed rooms and had great water pressure and plenty of hot water.
The staff at Vista Del Mar was wonderful and answered our dozens and dozens of questions. They gave us restaurant recommendations. We also printed out the best rated restaurants from this site, and really loved them all. The dive shop at the base of the hotel is wonderful, too.

We loved this small hotel. It was clean, cheap, and right in town. Easy walk to all restaurants, bars, and shopping. But if you are looking for beach access, AI amenities, elevator, and luxury, it is not a place for you. It is also not a place that caters to families with children (I’m so glad). Rather, main clientele here are divers and adults that love to experience the real side of Cozumel. Vista Del Mar is right in town on the busy Avenida Rafael Meglar, facing the water. In fact you can see the cruise ships docking from the ocean view rooms. You are right in town, so expect noise and expect that you are not going to be near beaches.

I don’t know who said that this hotel is not on the same side of the island as the beaches. Not true. There are beaches all around Cozumel and in fact, the west side (same side as the hotel) is where the main tourist beaches are. Again though, you are in town and on Cozumel the beaches are outside of San Miguel. My husband and I stayed at Vista last year and are going back again in 4 weeks and can hardly wait. It truly is a lovely place and if your expectations are right you will enjoy it.

Stayed here on our second week of our holiday,we had balconey room over looking the sea for 6 nights,lovely big room quiet,easy going and friendly.had a jeep for our time in cozumel so went every where,so only really slept in the room,never used the pool but was nice enough but no sun in the afternoon.
ate out every night went every where most places are the same really!! mexican or mexican went primas few times great ate lobster good lots of garlic!
over all we had a great holiday the tipping gets to much for us brits tip for every thing, drives you mad in the end!! all in all would go bk to vista as your right in the heart of it.

I don't recommend going to Cozumel at all. It was an incredibly expensive island where everything is priced in US dollars, so the Mexican exchange rate isn't good anymore. The cruise ships come in to the dock and 5,000 tourists get off and crowd the island for the day.

Vista del mar Boutique is a lovely hotel. I loved my bed, and the TV, and our balcony had a hammock on it. The shower was lovely and so were the complimentary bathrobes. It also came with free breakfast! It was expensive for Mexico, but a good deal for Cozumel. Staying in Playa del Carmen is a more economical solution.

Although the hotel is close to the ferry dock, it is on the opposite side of the island from the beaches. I recommend renting a car or a 4 wheeler.
