I stayed at Vista Del Mar on September 2007 and liked it so much that I decided to stay at this quaint boutique hotel again for my October 2008 diving week.
We arrived at the hotel on Wednesday, 01OCT08, and Linda greeted us with a warm smile. We were given a choice between room 303 and 304. We chose 303. Next time we will select 304! There is a lamp post outside room 303 that will shine into your room at night (you can work around this by using the storm shutter, though) and could potentially bother you during sleep.
The bathroom was nicely sized and the shower was big enough to, comfortably, rinse your dive gear. Water pressure and hot water availability were very good. The bed was a little on the firm side (we missed our Tempur-Pedic mattress!) but after a long day of diving and running around the island you were so tired you barely noticed!
The mini fridge was handy in keeping fruit juices and other drinks chilled. The mini-safe, located in the closet, was very convenient for keeping documents and small valuables secure. The small A/C unit on the wall is powerful enough to chill the room in about twenty minutes after you set the temperature at 1.8. We would turn it to 2.0 or 2.1 before going to bed for a very comfortable sleep.
The balcony, with two wooden chairs and a hanging woven chair was spacious and inviting enough to enjoy the quiet mornings before the cruise ships unloaded thousands of people on the island. Word of advise...make sure you use mosquito repellent in the mornings, late afternoons and evenings if you sit outside in the balcony!
You get coffee, juice and rolls brought to your room every morning (just make sure you contact Martin or Linda to let them know when you would like these goodies delivered). Rock N Java Caribbean Bar and Grill, past Punta Langosta shopping area towards the Chedraui, was our choice when we wanted a heartier breakfast (they also serve lunch and dinner)
Dominga, our room keeper, kept our room tidy and decorated it with towel creatures and flowers promptly in the mornings.
We were very pleased with the way Linda, Martin and Dominga treated us and will make sure we stay at Hotel Boutique Vista del Mar next year.
