“Nice and good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013 via mobile

Very good rooms with great sea view, good location (close to the center, food, parties and everything), nice people.

Breakfast: Bread, butter and jam.

A lot of noise from the street (cars and people), also you can hear talks from other rooms...

Good for a few days in honeymoon :-)

Took a second-floor ocean-view room and were very happy with it. The room itself was attractive, and big, with a blend of rustic and modern touches. Flat-screen tv, extremely powerful mini-split AC, mini fridge, decent toiletries, okay bathroom, colorful textiles and decor. I've read other complaints about the king-size beds being queens turned around. I don't believe that was true of our room, and the taller of us (6'0") was perfectly comfortable. The staff was very nice. We moved hotels after three nights (part of our original plan, no reflection on the VdM), but I left a recharger behind, and they found it and kept it for me until I could retrieve it. (I think I left a pair of shorts, too, but I didn't figure out they were gone 'til it was time to go home.) We loved having the balcony--two comfy adirondack-type chairs and a roomy chair hammock for viewing the goings-on along the street and at the dive pier across the street. Tip: hammock chair is not compatible with any buttons that might be on one's back pockets. I must have ripped off about three. There are some pegs for people who need to dry wetsuits or other things.

If there's any downside at all, it's that it might be a little noisy for a fitful sleeper, and because the lobby is on the second floor, if you're hauling heavy dive bags, you're probably going to be hauling them up at least one flight of stairs.

Amidst all the souvenir stores right downstairs is a nice little tamale stand. We never had the continental breakfast because we had other places we wanted to eat in the mornings.

Great place to stay and we will return! Sure the hotel needs a paint job but...the room was exceptionally clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable (the most quiet and comfortable place we stayed in the Yucatan). The amenities are modern and very nice(t.v., fridge, bathroom). We hoped to upgrade to the ocean view room but were not at all dissapointed that they didn't have any available because the rooms on the back side of the hotel are so quiet. There is a nice view from the rooftop deck. The pool is nice and a great place to chill after a day of diving. It is convienient to anything you need(grocery store, shops, bank, restaurants, internet cafe, dive shops) and the staff was top notch. Maidalaid was particularly helpful, plesant, and freindly. Your breakfast is delivered to your room each morning at your specified time! The hotel is associated with Mr. Sanchos Beach Club where you get discounts on the food/beverages, activities, and a free horseback trail ride (jungle; you have to pay extra to ride all the way to the beach). From the fron entrance of the hotel(facing the water) a Mega supermarket is a 5min walk to the left. The central plaza with shops and a bank are a 3min walk to the right. The ferry pier (to Playa Del Carmen) is 5mins on foot. An internet cafe is one block away from the hotel; however this was the first hotel we stayed in this trip where the free wifi actually worked IN THE ROOM rathere than having to go sit in the lobby. Loved this place and will return.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side are very quiet but have no view. The ocean view rooms can be noisy due to tra...

This review is overdue but we all know how busy we get when we get home. We stayed here June 2-9. There were 4 of us =2 rooms. Both were ocean view. One was on 4th floor while the other was on 2nd. This suited our needs as the 2 on 4th floor were making their first trip to Cozumel and loved the view. There are many comments about the noise but it did not bother us too much as we are early risers and enjoyed sitting on balcony watching the city wake up. The rooms are a very nice size. The weather was bad the first half of our trip as the first tropical storm was developing but by the 4th day it cleared up. This did not stop us. The location was great as anywhere was a short walk or the taxi stand was right there. The ladies at the hotel were first class. I told them I would forget their names, and I did but they were amazing. They made reservations for us at the chocolate factory (A MUST DO- GO THERE) and the Pirate cruise which was nice because the rain kept them from going out most of week. The hotel was very clean. One of our concers prior to ariving was the room safe situation. There is a safe opperated by a key not electronic/digital. It was large enough for my 10.1" tablet, phones, travel documents, charging cords, portable speakers and cameras. The morning breakfast was just the right amount to snack on while everyone got ready to start the day. It was juice, coffee and a few pasteries. We requested all croissants and they usually could accomodate. The beds are stiff but we had no problem sleeping on them but they are not our memory foam or pillow top. We have slept on much worse in other places in Mexico. Pool... We did not use (see weather- rain)
I will finish this review by stating that this is the 4th difderent place I have stayed in Cozumel (Aura, El Coz., Casa Mexicana) and I will return. Why? Service, location, affordability and it is clean. I can't think of anything else I would like in a hotel. We like all-inclusives but we feel we miss out on too much if we stay at one in Cozumel.

Room Tip: We loved the view from the ocean view rooms.

Glad to see that the hotel made some nice upgrades. Each room has a new AC unit. Very quiet unit and they can get pretty damn cold if you want. Our room also had a new flat screen and bigger, new fridge with freezer. This was our 3rd stay here. It's all about the value at this place. It is down town. It does have a balcony on the water if you select that (we always do). It is a great place to watch the ships come in and out, watch the scuba fleets load and unload, and watch the fishing crews fish for bait from the pier. Maid service is great. We gave them a little tip each day and they went to town cleaning our room. They even went onto our balcony and turned our chairs over during a downpour, so they were dry when we got back to the room. Malidad and the rest of the desk staff were great.

It's is a little noisy sometimes being that it is downtown, the bathrooms do not have a fan in them so it does get humid in there, there is not an elevator, and the pool is not an infinity or Olympic sized pool, and there is not a bar there. That being said, that is why you are paying $60-$90 a night depending on season. It is a great value. Every oceanfront room was filled during our stay. We will be back in 2014 as long as the price is right!

This hotel has been one of my favorites. The rooms and the hotel itself were exceptionally clean and the staff was very helpful. When choosing between the ocean view and the typical room, we splurged and paid the extra 9 dollars for a deck with a hammock overlooking the ocean and the gigantic room.

I tend to enjoy staying in small boutique hotels, and had I based my choice exclusively on the main picture, I would not have chosen this hotel. Don't let that picture fool you; fortunately, I dropped in to a pleasant surprise.

Vista del Mar is located only a couple blocks from the main square and the ferry dock in one direction, one block from Señor Frog's, Hooter's and the party-style ilk in the other direction, a couple kilometers in this same direction from all of your SCUBA diving companies, and a skip and a hop away headed inland from the actual pueblo of Cozumel.

If ever back in Cozumel, I'll be sure to book ahead of time to guarantee a room here again.

Room Tip: Pay the little bit extra for an ocean view room. The non-ocean views do not enjoy a deck and are muc...
