“Cantamar #303 Condo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

I've been taking vacations in Mexico for 25 years + and have always done "all inclusives" until this time. We rented a condo in Cozumel (Cantamar #303) and it was the best experience I've had in Mexico. This place is PARADISE! It is right on the ocean and some of the best snorkeling I've ever done. The views from the condo are amazing! The owners have thought of everything you need for to make this your home. The restaurant and grocery information provided by Jill (owner) was very helpful. We cannot wait to return!

The owner of the condo, Diane Tealander, sent us a detailed manual of all the great place to scuba, snorkel, eat and have other wonderful adventures. Diane went over and above in offering useful information so that we could make full use of our vacation time.

The accommodations were clean, well decorated and maintained to assure a comfortable stay. The view was especially beautiful at sunset looking across the water. The best snorkeling was right off the balcony just beyond the pool. No need to drive, cab or walk if you want to wake up and go for a morning dive. Also, the other visitors in the building were friendly and easy to connect with if you like a little neighborly conversation. Awesome describes this place.

I plan to visit again - soon.

Having been our first time to Cozumel, we didn’t know what to expect. The owner's incredibly detailed booklet as well as her emails, answering all my endless questions, put us at ease and gave us an incredible week. The snorkeling right off the pier was the highlight. How convenient! And the abundant fish made it that much more outstanding. I also saw eels, baby rays, a flounder, puffer fish, just to name a few. Because this was a relaxing week, we didn’t make a lot of plans to do all the activities on the island. We stayed put, but I didn’t feel cheated one bit!
As far as restaurants, the ones we visited were delicious and all very reasonably priced. We went to Pancho’s Backyard—twice—for their incredible margaritas, and lunch too. We visited Guido’s (DON’T miss the garlic bread, and make sure you sit in the garden section). The scallops were delicious. Rolandi’s was very good and we sat right on the water’s edge! I had fish kabobs—AWESOME! The service at these restaurants was top-notch! Very attentive. For a delicious, authentic (and VERY cheap) Mexican breakfast, don’t miss the Museum restaurant. The only place we went where we weren’t that impressed was the Golf Course for breakfast. The food wasn’t bad, but after experiencing all the great places mentioned above, we were a little disappointed.
We did rent a car for a day, so we could go see the other side of the island. Whoa, that was an experience! We didn’t need anything special, and with their VW convertible, that’s what you get—nothing special! It’s basically a car frame sitting on top of 4 wheels and an engine! We got quite a chuckle out of the whole thing. Hey, it did the job, and only cost us $40USD (plus gas). We used Rentadora ISIS—very friendly people to work with. Just don’t look for a cup holder in your rental! We stopped at Playa Bonita for fish tacos—SO GOOD and huge portions! We stopped at the ruins at San Gervasio. If you go, go early in the day because it gets HOT there. Lots of iguanas everywhere too.
It was a pleasure getting to know the resident little fur babies, Donatella and Ashley. They were well fed (and loved) and I enjoyed seeing them every evening. It made me miss my kitties back home a little less.
This was an extremely comfortable home with the most spectacular views. We seriously felt so right at home. The attention-to-detail and genuine concern for the guests was so evident. WE WILL BE BACK!

Room Tip: Condo 202 has a great view.

We loved our first trip to Cozumel and had to come back to paradise- Cozumel and 303 Cantamar. It was even more fabulous than we remembered it to be. We had all the creature comforts PLUS more. Cantamar 303 and Cozumel offered us much needed time away from our normal rat race allowing us to leave refueled and refreshed!
Cantamar is quiet, private, yet not secluded. We love this place. We did rent a car this time, but really wouldn’t have needed to. Cantamar 303 is within walking distance to the “main drag” of Cozumel. We chose to spend most of our time at Cantamar, leaving only to shop at Mega (big department/grocery store) and take walks to one of the many restaurant choices we had. We read, talked, relaxed, on one of the balconies, around the pool, under a palm tree, watching the cruise ships, fishing boats, snorkelers, etc. What beauty! We again enjoyed the hospitality of the people of Cozumel and the lovely setting – in the condo, surrounding landscape and Yucatan beauty.
Jill and Truett have thought of everything and give new meaning to “Mi Casa Su Casa”!

Ahh, another morning sitting on the patio with my view of the pool and better yet the ocean. Nothing, absolutely nothing can describe the beauty of the water - you have to see it to believe it - you will gasp when you see the colors. Wish we could bottle it!

This beautiful condominium is located in a perfect and quiet setting in the Cantamar building, North of the bustling downtown. The Cantamar is right on the shore with crystal blue water varying from turquoise to brilliant blue.

The owners, Jill and Truette Lawson paid great attention to the details in creating this beautiful and inviting home. The walls are embellished with hand painted murals and Mexican tiles cover the sinks and countertops. Their uses of local art and beautiful hand crafted Mexican furniture have help make this a gem!

We so enjoyed watching the ocean with sea life visible from the balcony of our condo while sipping coffee in the mornings. Swallows fly overhead and create a peaceful flurry of morning activity. Ships come in, along the horizon and then, there are the beautiful sunsets! We found the building very quiet and tranquil.

The swimming pool and grounds are very private and superbly maintained. The condominium is set on the water so stepping off into the ocean is right there. Even better, the condominium is situated perfectly for all activities including dive boat pickup with the elite service of Aldora Divers just 2 doors away.

The condominium is very close to bike/running paths which you can easily walk to town or go another 2 ½ miles North to the entrance of the golf course for a safe and enjoyable run.

The Lawson’s made our vacation so easy and enjoyable by assisting us with restaurant recommendations and providing detailed maps and activity suggestions.
We are pretty picky people and rent through VRBO often. We feel this condominium unit and the owner’s efforts and generosity easily earn a 5 star rating.

Room Tip: We slept in the Master and the bed was very comfortable!

We had such great time staying at the Cantamar in condo 303. The view was unbelievable. We snorkeled right in front of the condo every day. May beautiful fish found right in front.
We love that we can walk into town and did our grocery shopping and taxi'ed back for $4. Jill(owner) was very helpful with all my questions prior to our visit. I really appreciated that!
We met a great taxi driver to take us around the island for 600 pesos($50). It was agreed for 3 hours but he spent 4.5 hours with us. Pedro Uch is the person to call for when you are in Cozumel. His taxi number is 310.
Phone 9871076126. Add prefix 044 if dialing from land line from home.
In addition, the condo includes all the snorkeling gears and several life jackets if you feel the need to use. We had housekeeping for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I don't think we really need to have maid service for Friday but that was fine. Would be nice not to have anyone around during a vacation stay. That's why we don't like hotels.
We would like to revisit Cozumel soon!
