I have read many reviews on here some great, some not so great and others down right bad. So, Here is what I am going to do I am writing two reviews..This one(first Impression) and then one Right before I leave(final impression)...Upon arrival here at Melia there was a porter who instantly took my bags and lead me to the front desk..The check in was relatively smooth although there were some communication problems(languauge problems). After check in and on the way up to the room we were approached by a timeshare represenative who was pretty aggressive(watch out for that at the airport to there are some there who claim they are government tourism officals). We told her we were tired and just wanted to go to our rooms she seemed ok with that.We were then lead to our room by the porter who was very friendly..The Elevator up to the room was extremely hot since it is not airconditioned which is not good when you are staying on the 11th floor. The room itself was clean (although aq slight musty smell), nice sized and had a nice view of the ocean(although the water at the beach has to be the dirtiest I have ever seen). We then proceeded to go down for lunch and were once again bothered by the timeshare lady she followed us all the way to the restaurant(one of 4) La Isla a buffet style place. The food was surprisingly good for a buffet the staff was attentive and it had a generally nice atmosphere. On the way back to the room we were once again approched by another but more aggresive time share rep this time we agreed to attend a presentation just to get them off our backs(i'll let you know how that goes). We then went up to our room to shower and take a nap. The shower is ok a little small but plenty of hot water and water pressure. The bed was a little firm for my liking but it was large and clean. I then tried to get something to drink out of the mini bar but it was almost empty so I'll tell my maid about it and see what gets done. We then headed down for dinner and the nightly show. Since we arrived to late to make reservations for two of the restaurants we once again ate at the La Isla but this time it was a Menu option place and not a buffet. Once again the staff was friendly, the food was good but there were very limited options and the portions were small but since it is all inclusive you could always order seconds..We then proceededto the show. The show was called show business it was a lip syncing take off on old broadway performances. The production was amateurish at best and the female costumers a little risque if you have children but the performers are your staff from the Hotel so you can't expect to much so over all it had pretty good entertainment value. I then proceeded back to my room for the night and that is how my day ended. so over all I would say my first impression is favorable. BTW don't let anyone tell you there is no WiFi access because I am using while sitting out on my Balcony writing my review and watching the waves roll in
