My husband and I vacationed at the Melia Apr.5-10. Check-in was speedy and efficient. Our room was right on the beach. We were able to walk in right off the sand. Hilaria was our criadora and our room was spotless each day. She took extra time and added some personal touches that we really appreciated. Great room!!!! The beach was just beautiful. Anyone who complains about this beach is out of their mind! It was RAKED every morning. There was very little seaweed- and I would call it grass- not the seaweed we see in Lake Erie. The water was gorgeous! There were plenty of trees to lay under if you want to get out of the sun. The bar is also right next to the beach so getting a beverage was easy. The bar service and drinks were also great. We also had no complaints about any of the food. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets were very good.
There is something for everyone to eat. We did make reservations at El Paraiso for two evenings. The food quality there was also good. We dined at La Iguana one night and it also was really good. The idea of two pools, one for kids and one for adults is great. Both were always clean and everyone seemed to be having a good time. There were always activities for the kids for those parents who like to bring them. We played tennis and basketball and my husband had an awesome massage.
Evenings are very quiet here but that is what we like. We spent all day at the beach so after dinner and a couple drinks we weren't looking to bar hop. This isn't the place to go if you love nightlife. I did walk by El Cozumeleno (hotel next to ours) and it was very crowded. The beach was small and didn't have a lot of white sand like ours. This place reminded me of one of the All Star Resorts at Disney (yuck).Check out was a breeze. Our bill was under $100. We had a massage and a few phone calls on our bill. Everything was included. All in all, we LOVED it here and would recommend it to anyone. I read reviews six months before we left and some of them had me worried. I can't imagine anyone leaving here unhappy. We will definitely return. - A very satisfied couple from Buffalo, NY

I must say I was against an "all inclusive" resort. Never did one...never wanted to because of all the bad I had heard. BOY WAS I WRONG !! The Melia Cozumel was fantastic and ( if I was a cheapskate ), I could have kept only my room key in my pocket the whole week and not spent a dollar ( 1.1 Pesos ) as everything was included !! No surprises. Beautiful rooms, wonderful service, exceptional people, who are all happy you came to their resort. 3 restaurants and snack bar, a bar around every corner catering to your tropical whims and fancies and widely separate pools for adults and children so the little ones can carry on noisily far away from those of us wanting some cocktails and R&R in peace at the pool or the beach ! Edwin & Luis from Olympus Tours in the Melia lobby graciously assisted us in several outings without being pushy on any and showing us some ideas and options that we are glad we took them up on ! I highly recommend the Melia Cozumel to everyone and in closing advise that if you can't have a great time at Melia Cozumel, then it sucks to be you !

Staff were ALL very attentive and accomodating. Rooms were clean and service was wonderful. Food was plentiful and of good value. The beach was cleaned every morning and always looked pristine. We played golf every day and the course at Cozumel Country Club was exacting and in good condition. Would we do it again, you bet.

My daughter and I stayed at the Melia for five days in the beginning of March. We had a wonderful time. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. We especially liked the "Activities Desk" staff. They were a lot of fun! The rooms were large and clean. Air conditioner worked fine. We had no problems with wet floors from condensation. Beds were comfortable. Bottled water is replenished daily in your room. We had a beautiful view of the ocean from our balcony. The beach was cleaned daily of debris and was very nice. A lot of fun activities throughout the day and night. Both pools and pool areas were clean and well kept. Food was not fantastic, but acceptable. Even picky eaters can find something. While it was somewhat inconvenient to trek down to the lobby at 7am to make reservations for either of the two nicer restaurants, it was worth it. Nightly shows were not on the "professional " level, but were certainly enjoyable. Drinks were OK as well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again on future visits.

We just spent a long weekend at the Melia Cozumel resort and had a fantastic time. The food was excellent, especially at the Cafe Paraiso.
It is well worth it to trek to the lobby at 7:00 am to make the reservation. (I know reviewers have complained about having to make a reservation, but this is much better than the first-come first-serve or the two ticket per week policies we have encountered at other resorts in the Cancun/Cozumel area.) The staff was excellent, always ready to help you and they did a great job learning and remembering our names and favorites! I enjoyed snorkeling at the Sol Cabanas del Caribe-- thought it was a treat to be able to walk to this excellent snorkeling spot. We tipped our maid a few dollars and left a note asking for more water bottles to be left in our room, and we received approximately 12-15 water bottles in our room each day. I think the resort staff just leave two water bottles in the room in an effort to conserve resources because when you ask for more, you receive PLENTY of water! We have stayed at Iberostar in the past (in 2000), and although we enjoyed the Iberostar, I think the Melia resort is nicer. I liked feeling that you were always on the beach instead of back in the jungle, the ocean view from the rooms was fantastic, and eating breakfast right on the beach was so much nicer than in the jungle at Iberostar. I think the buffet food was comparable in the two resorts, and I enjoyed the nicer restaurant at the Melia more. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone who wants to relax on the beach in Cozumel. This trip was incredibly relaxing!
