Average resort with zero entertainment. Nice beach. Won't return. Bars closed early and food was mediocre. Small pool with swim up bar where our personal belongings were stolen while being placed 5 ft away.

The rediculous complaint reviews never cease to amaze me.

My parents purchased a 1 bedroom suite in the late 80's after a hurricane had all but leveled the place. Through the years there have been many other hurricanes and storms, the last one parking over the island for a full 3 days! I have seen it be rebuilt several times.

This is a tropical location where if you leave your doors open to get the breeze, you are also letting in the humidity. Don't complaint about mildew or smells if you are one of the people that leave the doors open or sit on the furniture with wet and sandy bathing suits on.

The staff here is amazing, many of your servers and bellman have been here for 30 years. These are some of the nicest people on earth who go above and beyond to serve you. Every time we go back I am amazed to see the same faces (Alberto, Freddie, Felipe and more). Now I come back with my own children. We spend Christmas here last year and had a wonderful private table set up on the beach, it was amazing.

The food here is just average, breakfast being the best but there is always something to eat. The drinks are strong and not watered down and the fee is $55 per adult a day for everything and less for children! I suggest people check the fees at other resorts where the food is not all that much better if at all and costs 3 times as much or more per person AND those higher priced resorts charge full price for kids!! You want to pay $179 a day to feed a 12 year old, go somewhere else.

The beach does get sea weed thanks to the pier that El Coz Resort put in next door. This is not the fault of the Melia. You can easily walk to the other side of the pier for clear water and some of the best snorkeling on the island.

If you are not happy with your room, by all means ask to be moved but ask nicely. I've seen some vacationers be pretty rude and get nowhere. We've always been treated well here but we treat the staff well and we tip generously. In return, we are always taken care of.

Be back this April when the kids plan to get open water certified! Can't wait!

Room Tip: The tower rooms are nicer but they are timeshare rooms

If your expecting a laid back resort this is the one to go too. Everyone is friendly and relaxed. The buffet is comparable to most buffet's, the private dining restaurant is very nice and the food is wonderful make sure you make reservations. The spa was wonderful, there are many things to do at the Melia take advantage of them. The Melia staff is great, Enrique at the swim up bar is awesome!! Everyone goes beyond the call of duty to make sure you are happy. I highly recommend, will be back! Everything is very clean, only down fall was the A/C in the main lobby at night where the entertainment is was broke, very hot. September is the rainy season for Cozumel so expect rain everyday and take some OFF, the mosquitoes will carry you away. All in all a great week at the Melia....Enrique, Felipe, and Augustin are great!!

Room Tip: Room 805 is right in the middle of the main tower, beautiful view......the a/c worked for sure...ver...

Juan Peraza Certvantes, Front Desk Manager has been most helpful! He has confirmed our 4th vacation to Melia Cozumel. Juan answers our email quickly and assures that our reservation at Melia is correct. Since this is our 4th trip to Melia, our recommendations are quite favorable.

what can I say..if you are easy to please this may be your place. Food is buffet style and is similar to what you would get at a college dorm or hospital cafeteria. The dining area is hot and there was chunks of drywall falling from the ceiling because of a condensation problem. The floor was wet at the entrance to the dining area, my friend slipped and fell. The beach is nice but the chairs were falling apart. The mosquitos were just terrible at night...bring deep woods off. The bars close early. The rooms were ok..some stuff needed to be fixed and replaced. The hotel is far from town. There is no snorkeling or diving close by. This resort is the farthest one from the reefs, no one will want to pick you up by boat. The guest services people were not helpful. We really couldnt wait to leave. We are tough critics, but the food, conditions of the dining room, the bugs, and the staff were definitely inexcusable.
