I have been visiting Cozumel, Mexico for many years. The diving is spectacular do to the extreme clarity of the water, but Cozumel is not just a diver's retreat. The restaurants, the beaches, and the laid back atmosphere are an asset to anyone's vacation plans. My choice for accomodations is Villas Ixchel for several reasons. The lodging is very fairly priced and very comfortable, and your host is the most helpful person you will find on the island. Roswitha, or Rosie as we call her, can not only assist you in anything water related, but can also guide you to the finest restaurants and trusted establishments. She can teach you how to dive, take you snorkeling, or tell you where to get a car or get your torn luggage repaired. She is as at home in the ocean as any mermaid and will point out creatures you would look right past on your own. I would recommend Rosie and Villas Ixchel to first timers on the island or experienced visitors.

I have stayed at Villas Ixchel twice, once alone and once with my new husband. The owner, Roswitha, took excellent care of us, even arranging delicious lunches to be delivered after a long morning of scuba diving.
She knows every place on the island and only recommends terrific places to eat, shop, and have fun. It is always a bargain and you feel more like family than a tourist. The rooms are all spotlessly clean, cool with AC, and cutely decorated. We look forward to staying at Villas Ixchel the next time.

This was our third year. Rooms are very clean and nice, and the price is way cool. But the best part is Roswitha the owner. She knows more than everything about the island and who has what, and what is a good deal. She has got us through so much that when I count things up at the end of the stay its like we stay at Villas Ixchel for free. We have stayed other places in Cozumel and have done very poorly on our own.
She also is a SCUBA Instructor and does snorkeling trips for non SCUBA folks. We will be going back (often I hope). Ed Juelich
