We moved to the Grand from the Allegro because of a booking problem. We had been at the Allegro twice, so we were a bit reluctant to move. We liked the Grand so much we're going back in March for 10 days. The dining was excellent. The staff friendly and courteous. The young men who waited on us in the morning for breakfast remembered our names.
They were very friendly. Olivos and Sonora restaurants were the best.
The restaurant at the pool was beyond our expectations. The head cook cut up fresh Mahi Mahi for us then cooked it with white wine and lemon.
He made us feel like we were the most important guests he had. That was just for lunch! The flan was terrific. Our room was on the bottom floor. The rooms were elegant. The lady who cleaned our room made the cleverest critters out of towels and wash cloths. Like one day she made a turtle, one day a pair of swans. She would make hearts on the bed from flower petals. We thought the bathroom was so cool. Huge walk in tile showers, safes in the closet, a big bath tub. The architecture was like a Spanish Mission. The dive shop was second to none. Gustavo, one of the instructors was the best. He could teach anyone to dive. He was patient and knew how to make the novice feel right at home. If you want to learn to dive, definitely request Gustavo. We were able to do a number of dives with him. I have been throughout Mexico but, Cozumel and the Grand are my favorites. It is not the U.S. so remember, not everyone speaks fluent english. Also, it can be humid during certain months. The culture is different from ours in America so remember, people there are actually polite and courteous. Also, they tend to respect the elderly and they generally aren't foul mouthed. However, you might run into that if you look hard enough.

We arrived on Valentine's Day and we treated very well from the beginning. We stayed in the Royal Club, in a first floor room. The room was beautiful...nicely decorated, huge bathroom, DVD player and a nice patio. It was a bit humid but it's a tropical island and is expected (no musty smell). The room was always clean and the towels were plentiful. Our room was even cleaned during dinner and we were given fresh towels and chocolates! The staff, especially Gloria at the Royal Club, was extremely helpful and friendly. She booked all of our dinner reservations, even on the day we arrived (no problems even though the hotel was fully booked). Although it rained for 3 out of the 5 days we were there, we were able to enjoy our stay. We also got CDs and DVDs through the Royal Club. I was able to take the scuba lesson in the pool and enjoyed the experience. We did go horseback riding at Rancho Palmitas...very nice people and a neat trip to a Mayan Cave and Temple.
Despite the rain, we had a wonderful trip. The OGC has nice restaurants, especially the Mediterranean and BBQ, beautiful grounds, a nice pool, decent beach and friendly staff!

Was at the resort Feb 7-14.Weather was good except for friday when it rained most of the day.Daily temps in the upper 80's to low 90's.I read alot of reports about this resort so thought I would put my two cents in also. This place is heaven...Ive been to a few resorts before but this one tops them all...The staff were so friendly..especially at the La Mission..they even played a few games of pool with us.The grounds were immaculate..every day the grounds crews were out cleaning up..sweeping the sidewalks or picking up the leaves from the beautiful trees. The food was world class even at the buffets. We liked the place so much we purchased a time share there.I'm some what of a tight wad but this place is worth every penny!Beautiful water and pools and everything else...dont be afraid to go to this one,you will be very pleased! The room cable service did lack U.S. news channels and network programming but I guess we didnt go there to watch tv anyways! All I can say is what a beautiful place....I will definetly go here again.5 star is not enough..more like 6.Feel free to e-mail me if any questions...mikeydxer@hotmail.com

We just returned from the Grand Cozumel on February 14, 2004. It was absolutely amazing from the time we arrived until the day we left.
Looking back on some of the negative reviews that I had read before going to the Grand, I believe that there are people that you may never be able to keep happy. The staff were great, right from the girls walking up and down the beach all day getting the guests their drinks to the housekeepers to the waiters, etc. The meals were fantastic. I don't know about you, but I certainly don't cook like that at home! The weather was hot (about 30 degree celcius) and only 1 day of rain. We were upgraded half way through our vacation to a Royal Club Room which suited us just fine. Lots of activities throughout the day. The resort was very clean and beautiful. Not many bugs at all. There was internet access for a small charge. Royal Club rooms have unlimited access to the internet. Overall, I would have to say that I would not hesitate in returning to the Grand Cozumel. They really know how to treat their guests. One small dissappointment, however, you must rise early in the morning to get a reservation for the a la carte restaurants. Saying that, we did fill out a survey regarding the reservation process and mentioned that it was an inconvenience.

Stayed at the grand cozumel for 2 nights (feb 5 & 6) we were offered a trip(From their sister resort) because of an overbooking at our resort in the mayan riveria, so we decided to take them up on the offer they gave us. When we arrived we were greeted with a glass of champaine and a wonder aroma of fresh floweres that fiiled the lobby. We got our rooms right away and grabbed some food at the beach restraunt. We were told to try the pizza restraunt on the roof top,we did that night and it was the best pizza ever!! The food in all of the restraunts was great, the buffet had porkchops, shrimp fresh fish, steaks that you choose and they will cook that right in front of you. The beach was okay but much nicer in mayan where you get the white sand and clear tourquios water. there are 2 pools 1 quiet one and 1 fun one.The one thing that we missed with comming to this resort was the entertainment, there wasn't any. There wasnt a stage for entertainment at night. Its a pretty quiet resort! There is a kids club there but only 1 other kid was there the 2 days we were there, so we kept them with us. The rooms are beautiful, bathrooms are huge. Resort is spotless. The staff work so hard and are very appreciative of any tips that they get, and they do remember if you tip them the next time you go back to that restraunt they go above and beyond for you.Its a few $for us and alot for them.
The maids cleaned the rooms and left towel animals and flowers around the room. All said and done we had a great time we are happy that we got a chance to visit cozumel but my heart is across the ocean in the mayan riveria!!!!
