Be careful with direct flights to Cozumel - the airlines aren't well supported at that airport for maintenance. We missed our flight in and it was the only one. Our flight out was delayed because the maintenance crew and pilot didn't agree on repair solutions.
Carry cash - Pesos are best. ATMs are limited.
Watch out for the time share schpeil.
Hotel is fantastic. A bit musty but should be expected in that climate. Tip - the switch for the ceiling fan is by the beds.
Drinks are a little weak but it helps if you don't want a hangover.
Karen with the dive lessons was fantastic!!
Bring Bug spray I have lots of bug bites.
Bring really high SPF sunscreen - I rarely burn and did a lot!
Wash clothes aren't consistent in the rooms. We had 1 the first day, 2 the second, 0 the third and 2 the fourth.
Bring at least one nice outfit as reservation dining has a dress code - when the airline loses your luggage for 2 days we couldn't eat there. The food is good but make sure you get everything at the meal (salad bar, bread, drink refills, etc.)
Check twice when booking tours with outside companies - our price changed on us - the hotel hosts different booking companies.
The food is pretty good. I wish I could have taken home the guacamole. The dishes have been through better days. Lots of chips in them. They are kind of stingy with chips, good ketchup and you have to ask for tortillas. When the french toast and pancakes were put out yesterday morning, they were cold - kind of with the expectation that the heat lamp would warm them up.
When you order drinks from servers in the restaurants, order two and if you want to tip, give it to the person you want to get the tip.
The only people who seem to expect tips are the shuttle drivers and the taxi drivers. They will hold their hand out and will tell you when they want more money.
Get at least one trip to town to shop for souvenirs and eat at the Mission Restaurant. Yummy.
Keep ALL your paperwork. No one tells you to keep your immigration papers when you arrive you need them to leave.
A tour company took one of our hotel to airport vouchers and we were never told to keep them to get to the airport. The cab driver stuck us for $20 even though we had a voucher.
Cabs should never cost more than $20 for up to 6 people - period - to airport or town. Stand your ground on this.
Anabele at guest servcies has all the answers and is very very helpful.
