Having just returned from our fourth stay at Las Anclas, a friend asked me why we always stay at the same place. My answer was, "There is no better place on Cozumel."

The rooms are clean and comfortable with good A/C. The housekeeping is excellent. The gardens are a great place to hang out for "Happy Hour(s)". The dive gear rack and rinse are a nice feature for those that dive. Being able to walk a few minutes for a great meal at dozens of spots is a HUGE plus. The owners, Pedro and Eyal, are always happy to help in any way they can and they are a big part of the reason we return.

As others have said, the great rooms, lovely gardens, and all the other amenities provided all add up to a great stay, but it is the never-failing hospitality of Pedro and Eyal that make Las Anclas truly remarkable.

This is a great little, diver-friendly hotel with many repeating guests, which is recommendation enough but having just returned from Villa Las Anclas for the second time we thought it only fair this time to do a review and show what some of the few British visitors to the island think. It is difficult to find something others have not already said so do read through all the other reviews as well.

We love Cozumel and this hotel really helps. It is no surprise to us that Tripadvisors three top rated hotels on the island are all small 'independents'. Las Anclas is the only one of those near the centre of the town and in walking distance of everything you are likely to use and yet is pretty quiet for all that. There is certainly no nightime noise though you might be woken by the odd early morning cockerel or two!

The two storey ‘villas’ are simply enormous compared to your average hotel room, very light and clean with maid service and change of towels every day. With a good lounge area, 100 channel TV, kitchenette with sink, fridge, coffeemaker and microwave and fully tiled bathrooms with hairdryer and plenty of hot water (good water pressure too) what more can you want. Well there is an iron and ironing board for those that can’t live without it. There is wifi internet connection but if this is important to you ask for units 2 or 3 or sit in the garden which is a well planted, sometimes shady courtyard garden in which to sit an hour or two or the whole day if you wish. For divers there is a good gear drying area, with hose and hanging rail and lots of room in the villa when sorting out the gear. I suppose it’s not perfect but for us you really can’t beat it. The owners Pedro and Eyal live on site and are very involved and generous with their time.

I think all the Tripadvisors price indicators need some updating but at $100 a room low season and $120 in high we think they are good VFM as is the diving at $55 a two tank dive. For diving we have only used Blue Angel at Caribe Blu which is linked with the hotel and we like them and their dive guides and with their fast small boats if you get up for the 8.30 dive boat you will be back by lunchtime and with the rest of the day free for that post dive beer, best taken at the bar/restaurant over the dive shop.

One of the main attractions to the island is the quality of its restaurants. Everyone has their favourites and we would especially recommend 'Kinta' (newly opened and my favourite this year), La Veranda (beautiful outdoor gardens with this year an excellent spanish guitar playing Norwegian!), Le Cocay (gardens too and really well presented food), Le Chef (close to the hotel with food is as good but neither the setting nor the presentation is as pretty). There are plenty more to try.

We have no problem in recommending Hotel Villa Las Anclas and Cozumel as we know we will be coming here again and the hotel deserves a return to the no1 spot soon.

My husband and I have just returned from a 17 day stay at Villa Las Anclas. We return every year to this hotel and it continues to be the best place for a Cozumel vacation. We love the spacious rooms with a wonderful loft and great tiled bathroom. The courtyard is perfect for reading, making friends (and connecting with special returning friends) and enjoying the beautiful gardens. I particularly love being in walking distance to the bakeries, Mexican market and a wide choice of restaurants. The oceanfront is nearby as well as beaches. The hotel has a reciprocal with Caribe Blue which has a pool and great dive shop. Pedro and Eyal, the owners, are so accomodating and go out of their way to make you feel special. So many visitors that come and check out this hotel while staying at other places on the island, wish they had made their reservations at Las Anclas. I can see why this hotel has so many repeat cutomers. I have already made our reservations for next year!!

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights of a 8 night vacation and it was great. We went there to do some diving and we were looking for a location that allowed us to become a part of the local culture. that is exactly what we got. This hotel is located just a few blocks from everything and yet seems like an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Las Anclas is located just one block from the main ocean front drive and 2 blocks from the town square. It is small with just a few rooms which made it nice and personal with all the guests hanging out at night in the wonderful garden playing cards, talking about the days events and giving suggestions for great dinner locations. the owner and manager could not be nicer and often joined us for drinks. Pedro (the owner) would give us a ride to the Blue Angel dive shop in the morning and we would have breakfast together at their restaurant, He is a great guy who retired from a business in Mexico city and now runs this hotel to stay busy. he lives on site and treats everyone that stays there as family. we met couples that were staying there for months at a time which gave the place the feel of visiting family and being welcomed with open arms. the rest of the vacation was spent in Cancun in a big US chain hotel, it had every amenity known to man but it lacked everything we loved at the Las Anclas. If you want a corporate style hotel this is not the place for you but if you want to be a part of the local culture and stay at a great place with nice rooms and Very nice people than a stay here will make your Cozumel vacation perfect.

This is one of my favorite places that I have ever stayed. The rooms are more like individual villas that share a beautiful garden/courtyard where people get together to share stories and ideas for restaurants and things to do. The best thing about this hotel is the hosts, Pedro and Eyal. They make you feel like you have come to stay at their home (and you have - they live in one of the Villas!) and are more than willing to help with anything you might need. They are closely connected with the Blue Angel Dive shop so they will gladly help you with all of those arrangements (the Blue Angel is also fantastic - Jeannie will help with everything and the dive masters are great). We loved meeting all of the other people who were staying there, all of them long-time repeat customers who stay for weeks at a time to dive. As planned, we left there to go to Cancun and stayed in a big resort, but we both wished that we were back in Cozumel at Villa Las Anclas.
