This resort has basically 2 different buildings. One is a 3 story hotel-type building and the other a 12 story tower. I stayed in the 3 story unit. I had a 1 bedroom suite on the ground floor. The unit was clean and the furnishings looked fairly new. The maid service was excellent. The kitchenette was nice and the appliances were clean. I really liked the remote controlled air conditioning units. Our patio walked out directly to the beach. The beach is pretty small, but has nice little huts to lie under. The snorkeling is pretty good in front of the resort also. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The location is good...its just a short ride to the center of town for shopping but far enough away from all the lights and sound. The only small complaint I had was that the cruise ships dock right in front of the resort which blocks off the view of the ocean sometimes...but it wasn't that big of a problem for me. To fully enjoy the island, you will need to rent a car. I recommend using a well known chain instead of the local rental places. I heard from some people who had problems with the local mom and pop type rentals. I used Hertz and had no problems. The car wasn't much to brag about, but at least it had a/c. If you are looking for activities to do, I highly recommend going to Xel-Ha. It is a tropical paradise just across the water on the mainland. They can book you directly at El Cid. You will not be disappointed. I was a little concerned at the price since you have to pay for the ferry across and a shuttle there and back, but it was worth every penny and then some. I recommend the all day full inclusive package. Well, hope this review helps...
