My wife and I recently returned from Cozumel, where we had the pleasure of staying at La Ceiba. It is a great location, close enough to town that you can take advantage of the many restaurants and bars. The hotel itself sits on the water and all rooms have a view. There is an underwater plane off the shore you can snorkel to. Best of all was the service! The staff was friendly and helpful. The concierge set us up with any activity we wanted. Dive boats leave from their dock. The food was great and served in an open resturant on the water. I would like to commend Salvador Meza, the manager, for his caring and personable approach to his work. He made us feel like VIP'S.

In my recent write up I indicated that we had used Caribe divers for our boat dives and that they had previously been Caribbean divers. That is incorrect. They are actually Caribbean Divers today. My confusion was caused by some out of date email addresses that I had in my system. They are an excellent operation. Cesar and Ruben are the best. If you really want to enjoy the entire Cozumel diving experience go with them. They will treat you right and you will see all of the critters that are there to see. They usually will pick you up at La Ceiba around 9 AM. Great for those of us who spend too much time at Guido's drinking sangria.

My husband and I went to Cozumel from 9-19-07 to 9-24-07. This was our honeymoon trip. We stayed at El Cid and loved it. All the food we eat at the restaurant was good, the air conditioning worked great in our room, and everyone was friendly. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite on the 7th floor. I was surprised how nice it was. The only complaint with the room was how thin the walls were. It wasn't too difficult to hear people in the hall or in their rooms.
This hotel is about 3 miles south of the Downtown shopping area. There are plenty of cabs outside the hotel to transport you. The cost is $6.00 for us to go from the hotel to DT.

My wife and I recently accompanied her sister and her husband on a visit to this resort using some time share points from their time share ownership. We found this resort to be fantastic! The entire staff was courteous and helpful and the amenities were great. We had a studio room overlooking the harbor area that allowed us to watch the boating activities during the day and see the twinkle of the lights from the mainland at night from our balcony.

The guys handling the poolside activities during the day did a great job of making you feel at home and added a lot of laughs to the time spent at the pool and beach. Luis, a member of the wait staff was always friendly and helpful and Salvador, the General Manager made it a point to come around and meet everyone.

The resort offers snorkeling equipment and a beach area to use it right at the resort. They will help you book any off site tours that you might be interested in and are genuinely concerned that your vacation experience be a good one. This is a resort that I will return to and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay in Cozumel.
