I found this little jewel, Casa Mexicana, Cozumel through trip advisor and booked by calling the 800 number. We stayed one night July 30, 2007 after a long day of travel from Michigan to Cancun, then the bus and the ferry over. It was a quick walk from the ferry pier and at check-in they gave us cold washcloths to use while checking-in. The employee noticed that we requested a high floor ocean view and changed it from the second to fifth floor.
This hotel is spotlessly clean. The view and balcony are beautiful as you look out across the main street and west toward Playa del Carmen. Although this is not a "luxury" hotel, the king bed was really comfortable, a/c worked fantastic-even in the extreme heat, the television had plenty of english choices, the bathroom was spotless and had nice amenities, and the employees are so accommodating and constantly cleaning to keep this hotel fabulous.
We both agreed that we would stay here again in a heartbeat. You need to know there is a very small pool and no beach in this area, but in Cozumel we are always traveling to some sight to see, or snorkel.
The made to order breakfast was outstanding. I ordered huevos rancheros and they were outstanding. The atmosphere was wonderful too being part ouside, part in.
They also had free internet access in their business center if you did not bring a computer. This was a refreshing surprise, as many places charge up to fiftty cents per minute.
The price of the room was so good, I feared that it would not be a nice place but boy was I wrong.
If you are thinking of giving this place a try, I give it two thumbs up!
I hope hurricane Dean did not create too much damage to this lovely island.
Great job Casa Mexicana. Keep up the great work.
