we stayed the park royal the week before Easter.
We had a wonderful time!!!!!!
We took our 2 year old and 5 year old
and they did not want to go home!
Our 5 year loved the kids club.
he went every day and played beach soccer,
beach volleyball, water polo, several other water games,
they had board games and crafts. One day there
was snorkeling lessons and another a pinata party.
they had a schedule up and he was able to pick and choose what he wanted to do.
we brought along sand toys, diving sticks and
a swim vest for our 2 year old.
we hung out at the zero depth entry infinity pool, it was good for both kids.(you have to watch out because it beaches in, and then drops off to about 3 1/2 feet.)
the kids loved the swim up bar where they could get their
'kiddie' beverages.
we were always able to find them something to eat at
the buffet, and each night they had french fries and chicken nuggets, just in case.(i will say we didnt drink milk for a week, i'm not sure what kind it was, but we didn't care for it) they had yogurt and cheese.
we pushed the beds together and the kids slept in the middle
we were a little worried about them falling off the bed
on to the marble floors.
they do not have roll away beds, they do have cribs.
oh yeah, the kids loved watching the big cruise ships come
and go!!!
email me if you have any questions.
enjoy your trip!

We just got back from a ladies long weekend at the Park Royal. I've stayed in a couple of resorts in Mexico that were much more expensive. This one exceeded my expectations. I am not sure why there were many of the negative comments we've heard. I've stayed at Palace resorts and while the Park Royal is not as plush, it is a really beautiful place.

When you are on property, you do not feel like you are right on the road. There is enough buffer with the buildings, trees and other "tropicana" that you forget where you are. There are lots of birds around all the time, so you feel like you are isolated.

For the price, you absolutely cannot beat it. The resort is not so huge that you have to walk a mile to get places, which we loved. The food was very good - Caribbean was our favorite, then Mexican and Italian last (but it was still good). The buffet had lots of good choices for breakfast and lunch - it was perfect.

The bars and snack bars were conveniently located by the pools. Drinks were strong, which is always good! Service throughout the hotel was great. No one approached us about timeshares. The walk under the street to get to the beach area was absolutely no big deal. We loved that area! There are two infinity pools and you could be right by the ocean watching the cruise ships come in.

The only thing lacking at the resort was nightlife. The resort only had 280 people there, so it was not busy. I think it could be more "hopping" if they were at max capacity. The resort only had one late night bar that did not really have a dance floor. However, a taxi into Cozumel for nightlife was cheap - $7. One night the hotel even arranged for taxis (free) for all of us to go into Carolos and Charlies, which was really fund (hotel staff went with us too).

I would definitely stay there again but only for a 3-4 night stay. It is perfect for that. You can get all the nightlift you desire in downtown Cozumel for a cheap taxi ride, so don't let the lack of nightlife at the resort keep you away. It was the perfect place for my friends and I to go to celebrate my 40th birthday!

Just got back from almost a week in Cozumel. I was part of a group of 9 people who stayed at the Park Royal. We liked it!

Before going, we had heard that the Park Royal had recently been renovated. The all-inclusive price was good, so we gave it a shot. My expectations were that it would be about average for a budget-minded Carribean all-inclusive and it turned out to be better than expected.

The hotel staff was generally friendly and helpful, bar service was good, the place is clean (including lots of great looking tile) and well landscaped, the pools are in great shape. Air conditioning worked well.

I have no major complaints. One negative is the daily (except Sunday) view of cruise ships, which are in port just a short distance away, but which fortunately set sail before the sun sets. There is not much beach but there is a fair amount of reef right off the shore, which we both snorkeled and scuba dived repeatedly. The reef apparently took a beating in the last big hurricane but there is still some coral and a lot of fish. The food and food service were good for this price range. Some of our group did have some bouts of not feeling well. We don't know if there was anything wrong with the food or water -- some of it may have been due to the sudden change in diet.

One odd thing: This resort had no pharmacy or gift shop. It is, however, fairly near the center of town and there are also a 7-Eleven and two pharmacies within walking distance.

If you like long sandy beaches or sailing, this is not the place... There are beach clubs, down the west coast of Cozumel that have "real" beaches, if lots of sand is your thing.

If you like to snorkel and/or dive, the Park Royal is a great place to stay, since you can do both right from the property and/or do boat trips right from the hotel dock.
We did a multi-day dive package with the hotel's "dive shop" (AquaWorld, like a lot of places in the area). Both on-premises and on-the-boat dive staff were friendly and helpful.

Overall, this is a very good place.

My husband and I stayed at the Park Royal Cozumel Mar.31-Apr. 7 and had a fantastic time. We absolutely loved every minute of it! I don't want to be too long, but maybe I can give a few highlights that others can use:
Weather was great. Drinks were good and plentiful--definitely bring some sort of pitcher or mug so you don't have to keep going back and forth to the bar for drinks. Everything was extremely clean -- our room was cleaned every day, they raked the beach and cleaned out the pools every night, the grounds were gorgeous and everybody was always working to keep everything clean. Service was great -- we asked for an iron and ironing board and it was brought up almost immediately, and everyone tried their hardest to fulfill every request and need we had (though we didn't have many). Everyone had a smile on their face. The two pools by the ocean were great with swim-up bars in both, and the snorkeling right in front of the resort was a lot of fun!
Now for the few down sides that I had: the beach was a little small, especially if the resort is full; the food was OK...we ate at the buffet, the Mexican and Italian restaraunts and the buffet was better by far--nice variety every day with a laid back atmosphere. We also requested a king bed and didn't get it...I guess not enough available. And although the resort is across the street from the beach, you can hardly tell it...it's just a short walk to the beach (you'd walk this far at some "beachfront" resorts). As far as the time share people go, we were stopped one time, and after we said no, they didn't bother us again.
And my last tip is that a Jeep rental for a day or two will be worth every penny you spend. We rented one for 24 hours for about $100 and had an absolute blast exploring the other side of the island, and just the two of us together was very romantic (and fun)!! I would definitely stay at this resort again. What you get for the money is really worth it. All in all, we had a great time...can't wait to go back!!

We just got back 3 days ago and I want to go back now! We had a fantastic trip. We brought our 5 year old with us and he had a great time! The staff was great...very friendly and easy to talk to. The grounds were lush and beautiful, the pools were clean and fun to swim in. I loved the infinity pools. I loved the hot tubs being right on top of the water. You could snorkel 5 feet from the hot tub!!! Beach is a small inlet/cove....great for keeping an eye on kids. Two infinity pools with swim up bars on either side of the beach....I loved that the ships came in...they were so cool...my son loved that. The drinks were okay...depending on what you ordered I didn't feel they were too strong. They do serve top shelp liquer not the cheapy crap. Food was pretty decent. Breakfast being the best. We had Italian one night..okay. I heard from others that the Carribean was really great. We ate off the resort alot too so we were not too dissappointed. I think anyone who came here would have a great time. Oh yeah they have a spa/gym...I worked out twice to makeup for all the guac & chips...nice place...it is $5 to use it.
You MUST rent a jeep/car and tour the North part of the island. Go to Cocunuts for a yummy lunch and spectacular view of ocean. Go to La Playa(that beach) Punta Moreno for a nice relaxing day of white sandy beaches and swaying hammocks....EXCELLENT food & drinks here--I'm serious folks you will not be dissappointed!! Bob Marley's is also a treat to visit! Nice beaches at this spot too!
