We stayed at the Park Royal from Feb. 9th - 16th and overall it was a very relaxing family vacation. The resort was very nice and always 'exceptionally' clean. We booked 2 rooms and travelled with our 3 kids (12,10 & 8) and my parents. We were in the newest building on the 7th floor and had the two end rooms (ocean/street views). Great for viewing the cruise ships when they are in port. The view was amazing. It was a bit different than what we have stayed in before but it was a nice different. Normally, we are in a smaller resort with no more than 3 floors. From the views, I would not want to stay on any floor lower than 5 or you may end up having a view of trees and gardens as the resort is not directly on the beach. You have to walk under the road to get to the beach (private). It is very small but nice to get into for some snorkeling. Sorry, snorkeling here is nill. Also, no walking along the beach. All you really see are a few different kinds of fish and some very large starfish. The reef is further out than where you are allowed (or want) to go. Boat traffic does not allow you to get out far but the guy at the beach activities hut takes you out to show you a planecrash. The beach area and all pools(3) are very nice and were always clean. It did rain the first 2 days we were there but it did not ruin our vacation. Yes, they do not have umbrellas but we didn't care - we were in Mexico and it was below 0 at home :-). The staff were all very friendly and always available to lend a hand. When we arrived the air was not working in one of our rooms and the front desk sent a repairman out right away. He had it fixed in about 20 minutes. It worked fine after that. No complaints with water pressure or temperature - in fact, with 5 of us in one room we never ran out of hot water. :-) We tried the Mexican Restaurant one night and it was pretty good but kids are not allowed and we all wanted to eat together, so we ate at the buffet the rest of the time. The salad bar and fruit are very good - the food to me was just ok - but it was very hard to find something for my kids to eat - usually one thing per night avaliable that they would like. It would be nice if they had more kid friendly items. I think they use alot of leftovers from previous meals to make dinner meals. I am not a picky eater but found myslf wanting some yummy mexican dishes. Sorry guys - you won't find them here. We did eat in town a few times and had excellent meals. Try Espeicies at 5th and 3rd area (near the surf shop) Excellent!!! Also, if you love to snorkel as we do - go to Corona Beach (snorkeling is free) and try the lunch when you get done - It is to die for! As earlier, I said that there is no walking along the beach but if you head out to the road there is a sidewalk all the way into town. It is about a 10 minute taxi ride so it would be a very long walk. If you get tired just crab a cab - always one around. My girls and I even took a horse and buggy ride back to the hotel one evening - they had so much fun looking all around. The kids club is very fun - all 3 of mine enjoyed the fun and games. They are always doing something to keep them busy. We did the Jungle 'Dune Buggy' Tour one day and had a blast - guides even made us a home made chicken taco lunch with rice and guac. This was our 2nd time going on this same tour and it is worth every penny - If you go, say hi to Omar for us!! There is no bottled water at this resort but a small shop right outside the driveway sells it if you want it - as well as other items if you need anything. Overall, this was a very clean place to lay your head and enjoy a swim in the pool - very kid friendly with the exception of food choices. We love to travel to Mexico so will probably not return to the Park Royal but only because of the location - no beach. We find ourselves always comparing everything to our favorite place "El Dorado Seaside Suites" so will probably return there. Hope this review will be helpful to you and happy travels!!!

OK guys, listen up! we stayed at the PR from March20-March 27, in celebration of our 35th anniversary. We've stayed at many other all-inclusives in the past, and it's true you "get what you pay for" but we were not one bit disappointed! We left 7degree weather with three feet of snow on the ground, and arrived in paradise without a hitch. It may be true the resort does not offer bottled water, so take your ice bucket to the ice machine (in close proximity of any room) and fill it up for drinking or brushing your teeth! Yes, we also asked for a room with a king bed and an ocean view, and received a double with a view of beautiful manicured gardens. We were also a bit discouraged at being on the 2nd floor, but when the elevator was out of order, the 2nd floor was a GOOD thing! The complaint re: the cruise ships is unwarrented, we personnally enjoyed watching them pull into port and all the attention to detail it involved, and not once was our ocean veiw obstructed. we are NOT big eaters, so we never chose this hotel based on the menu, more the price. However, we never had a complaint in terms of the variety of choices that were offered. The three swim up bars were all top notch, and never had to wait, EVER, for service. The staff was always helpful and friendly, and on many occasions, the bartenders would give you your favorite drink before you even asked! We personnally never left the resort to explore the area since we were there for strictly rest and recouperation and why leave anyway, when it's all inclusive? Do you really need to go to town for 1$ Coronas when they're free at the hotel? My only regret I should have been more prepared for the tropical sun in March, when my fair skin had not seen sun in months. After 6 days of exposure with #45, I still burned. Take many 1$ bills for the staff tips, they greatly appreciated and were not insulted by the gesture. If you are looking for a great walk-along stretch of white sandy beaches, this is not the place for you. It is afterall well reknowned CORAL beach, perfect for snorkling and scuba diving. The people we met were from all over the world, and as far as the "hounds" go, I feel a lot of travelers there were unaware that these "hounds" were actually conceirge staff, NOT trying to sell you anything, but asking if they could help you with any activity you may like to plan. All in all, I wish I were still there. The Infinity Pool was our favorite just get up early, lay down your towels, enjoy breakfast, maybe go back to bed if you desire, no one disturbs your space. Need I say more?

Over all, I would definatly stay here again. Pluses, friendly staff, especially fellipe at the blue marlin bar. beautiful property, great service, great location. .... Minus's, cold pools (who uses them with the warm carribean sea right there) the buffet was a little weak, and the restaurnts were so-so. overall an above average experience. I highly recomend the Park Royal.

I stayed at the Park Royal March 15-March 20. I came with six couples, Check in time is at 3PM, our flight was delayed so, by the time we checked in which was around 5PM there were NO King size beds available, all of the couples were split from both Hotels (New & Old Building) and half of the couples had a grand view of a propane tank. The rooms were clean but, no accommodations, Clocks coffee-maker/ropes/blankets.....you get the hint. From the moment we got to our room, our toilet was broke, our door to the room was falling apart, literally screws were falling off the door, and our in-room safe seemed not to work either. They do have irons upon request; I think all of the couples who came with us borrowed ours because they ran out very quickly. When I called the front desk for the iron it seemed like no one was able to speak English!! I am aware I was in Mexico but, I never had a problem anywhere I have gone with a language barrier! I had the same problem with the front desk when asking for out side Restaurant reservations ect.. The "snack bars" were a joke, hamburgers, hot dogs & pizza, all were inedible, The restaurants on the Hotel site were a joke, you have to get dressed, no jeans, sneakers or cut off shirts, a friend our ours was wearing a $200.00 pair of designer jeans & looked great & he couldn't get in to the restaurant, We tried to eat at the Mexican restaurant on our second night, again I found the staff didn't either speak English or just didn't understand anything we were asking for, like explaining the Menu items. We were not able to order our owner appitersers, we were given a sample platter & had to ask for a second one because there was enough food for two when we had six at our table. I am aware this is not a five star Hotel & came very cheap but, I have been traveling for over ten years now & I never lost weight on vacation like I did this time at The Park Royal. The few people that did eat at the Restaurant (sorry guys) were in the Bathroom constantly for two days!!!! My Husband and I both agree, if we had gone just the two of us we would have been in another Hotel on the first night. Since we came with six couples, we managed to have a great time by the pool & enjoying daytime activities, I can say we drank our monies worth at least of all. The Beach is cute but, as soon as you get into the water you are stepping on rocks, which were covered in some sludge, slime stuff something or another, bring your water shoes!! So, in closing the Hotel was clean, we had fun in a large group & didn’t burn a hole in our pockets for the Hotel.

This hotel is OK. Rooms were clean, but they do not have coffee makers or fridges. I thought the shower was great, nice big shower head.

Food - Fair. Breakfast buffet was good. Lunch OK. Dinner buffet was blah. This hotel has three formal restaurants. No children under 12 allowed. This was fine for me but did not sit well with a number of families who did not know that prior to booking. The Italian restaurant was not that great. I felt that had minimal of real Italian selections. Mexican was OK - tortilla soup was great as was the shrimp tacos. The Caribean restuarant was by far the best.

Drink - AWESOME bartenders! They were the best and would make you anything.

Snack Bar - Could have had a few more selections but otherwise OK

Pools - nice, a bit chilly at first. Beach area - OK great snorkeling right out front. This place was close to town. I would go again. Watch out for the timeshare sharks, they hit you up right at check in.

Staff- always nice and very helpful. Alex was the best!!!!!
