I stayed at the Park Royal March 15th through the 20th. The hotel is really nice...two pools with swim up bars right on the ocean and a bigger (cleaner) pool with a swim up bar in the middle of the hotel. The staff was very friendly, and attended to our problems fast (broken light, bugs in room). The room was clean, although my view was of an oil tank. Apparently you can only get good rooms if your a time share owner. Wish I knew that before, b/c from their website, all rooms are ocean view or garden view. That was a joke.
Now to the food (the biggest problem)....it was unbearable!!! We tried the dinner buffet the first night, and I swear the food tasted like dog food. It was so disgusting, that we went to bed hungry. The next night we tried the Carribean restaurant, but was turned away b/c two of us had shorts on. So we went to the Hard Rock in town and ate like we've never seen food before. LoL. The following night we went to the Mexican restaurant, figuring they couldnt mess that up, and it was just ok...So from there, we went to Pepe's restaurant, which is in town. The food was AMAZING!!! The lobsters were HUGE and sooo good, and the staff was very, very friendly. So overall, the food at the Park Royal was a big time disappointment. The snack bars were even worse...the pizza is worse than bad Elio's and the burger left a really gross taste in my mouth :( So you won't be seeing me back at the Park Royal...I can understand ok food, but it was unedible!!
The island itself is gorgeous...We went swimming with the dolphins, which is a MUST...Rented scooters during the day, which was really fun. At night we went to Senior Frogs, and had a good time. This was my first time in Cozumel, and I would probably go back for a few days, if staying in Cancun or something. So, if your going to the Park Royal, prepare for bad food. I may be a spoiled New Yorker, but who knows...
Oh, if you lose your towel (your given two), be preparted to spend $25 a towel. We were accused one day of stealing someone's towel, so have fun with that...

For $900 including airfare for an entire week, I would rate this hotel as a pretty good deal. I think most of the reviews were pretty accurate. We booked the deluxe ocean view and could see the ocean, but mostly cruise ships. I liked the ships and eagerly waited to see which one would be docked outside my window each morning.

Chair hoarding (a term I got from a news report upon my return) is a problem here. However, after a day, if you can wake up early enough to find a chair (probably no later than 8), you will find you quickly assimilate and become a chair hoarder.

We were never approached by a time share person, and cannot confirm the numerous complaints about that. The beach is small, but very pretty and well designed. There is plenty of other chairs by the infinity pool, and swim up bars.

I thought the room was wonderful. They cleaned it at whatever time we were not there, which varied greatly from day to day. They even called and asked if we wanted room service if they could not do it at the standard times.

There is virtually no nightlife at this resort. The evening shows were, in my opinion very boring. The sports bar was just another place to sit and drink, and really how many hours in a day can you just sit and drink. They should turn it into a dance club.

The restaurants and staff were pleasant. The island is very accomodating of tourists, and you can walk to the downtown for entertainment.

Over all I cannot complain, but was not so impressed that I would return. It would be a very nice place to maybe bring your family for 4 days, but not very nice for a honeymoon, or single person.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Park Royal in Cozumel from March 16th-19th. To make it simple I will go over the positives and the negatives..

Positives-Hotel was gorgeous, our room had a king size bed which some said in the reviews was hard as a rock, I thought it was fine, separate living room, bathroom was gorgeous, all marble shower, glass
door with rain like shower head! The hotel area is huge; rooms, beach, everything exceptionally clean. Staff extremely nice. We were NOT approached once by timeshare people. Drinks were great! Breakfast
buffet excellent, you have to get the french toast!! We took a cab into town our second night, the cab driver was extrememly nice and helped us figure out the peso to $ amount. Downtown is really nice and lots to see. We swam with the Dolphins at Chakanaab park, beautiful park, excellent experience! Beach is small but it was nice because it was only the hotel people. The snorkeling right off the beach was great, a lot of fun. It was my first time doing that, beautiful fish everywhere!

Negatives-We arrived at 1:00, check in wasnt until 3 so we had to wait before checking into our rooms. The only food to to snack on during the day if your at the pools or beach is hamburgers, hot dogs and nachos, which is fine except we wanted Mexican food since we were in Mexico. Our room was not serviced our second night there, not a big deal. No bottled water (here's a tip, buy a bottle before you even go to Mexico and put it in your bag you check, that way you dont have to worry about finding bottled water when you get there). You do have to pay for the room safe and gym, not a big deal $2-$5.

Overall I would definetely go back, and compared to a lot of other hotels we saw, the Park Royal was the nicest. We had a Great Time!!

My husband and I and another couple and a single man just returned from the PR yesterday. I can not say enough about this awesome place. We are in our 50's and 60's. We thought the hotel, resturants, pools, swimup bars, and bartenders (especially Okie Dokie and Franciso were great.) We were there from Mon Mar19-Mon Mar 26. The hotel did fill up over the weekend and guess we glad that it was not that full the entire time we were there.Cause it sure was hard to get a drink then. Our room was nice #1107 and our friends #1406 they had a better view of everything. The cruise ships were fun to watch. We went on the Dinner Cruise with the Pirates that was awesome. The food all in all was good, we ate all of the resturants and good food. The buffet was a little boring. I guess I would go to this hotel again. The price we paid was less then some of the timeshare people we talked to.We booked with Funjet and our friends with Apple.Anyway happy times at PR.

My husband and I and 5 other couples booked the Park Royal from March 15 - March 20, we all had a great time because there was so many of us but i would never go there again. It was all inclusive and the price was great but the food was really BAD and the service was BAD also. Also when we all booked it we all requested 1 King Bed (which they gave us 2 Double Beds) and an Oceanview and we didnt get it. If anyone wants to book there vacation here please look into it before doing so you might be disappointed.
