Disregard anything you have read about this resort prior to November, 2006!!! They have completely remodeled everything, from the buildings to the grounds, and it is all brand new. All rooms have views of the sea, the higher up the better. All balconies have glass to allow for unobstructed views. Our suite had flat screen TV's. They offer a gym with brand new Nautilus weight machines, free weights, elliptical machines, treadmills & stationary bikes and an attendant to show you how to use them all. There are 3 pools. The main one circles around a palapa bar, the other 2 are on either side of the beach. They are infinity pools where the water pours over the edge, seemingly into the Caribbean sea. They are all large enough to swim laps. Also 2 hydrotherapy pools on the beach. The pool chairs are all made of waterproof continuous fabric and are extremely comfortable. There are 3 restaurants, all of which have tablecloths, beautiful matching dishes, excellent quality silverware. The meals were different every day, and always offered healthy choices and at least 3 entrees. They also offer a Mexican and an Italian restaurant for dinners for people over 12 years of age. The food in all 3 restaurants was 5 star quality. They also have several snack bars where you can get pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs or nachos. They carry name brands on hard alcohol, and the wine isn't bad. For $48 per day the value was incredible.

This resort is better than the Marriott Kauai, where we stayed for Christmas last year in similar accomodations. I am a seeker of the perfect swimming pool, and have finally found it here (the pool by the "cruise bar" on the beach). I don't mind that the rooms have no kitchen facilities because food & drinks in the rooms will only bring in the bugs, and everything is provided to eat and drink in any event.

The staff is wonderful, and there was zero pressure to do any timeshare stuff once we told them we are already owners and had no desire to learn more.

Hello to everyone

When we arrived at the Park Royal,,we were greated like royalty, our suite over looked the carribean,,what was especially nice was sleeping outside at night on the balcony. The food was fantastic, during our time there we ate at the buffet, then had some Italian, then the following session Spanish food. The restaurants were exquisite, and the service superb. My family and I are planning another stay at the hotel in a couple of months,There beach was fantastic and the pools superb. The gym is the state of the art, so if one likes to work out like my family and my self, this is the place to go. a cab ride to town is inexpensive, appx 6.00.This is the in place to be.

We saw the renotvation after the grand "reopening". They had only been open for 5 days after the hurricane renovation. The pool was dirty, but the pool bar looked inviting. The lobby was beautiful and the staff appeared to be friendly.

This being said, do not, I repeat, do not get involved with the most high pressured sales presentation for a time share deal. Deceptive, rude, not true and very intolerant of the word no. Everything is negotiable, but not until you keep saying no. This hotel will accomodate 3,000 people, but the pool and beach area cannot hold over 300 at best.

I would not stay here again, and would run from this hotel unless i had in writing that I would have the best room on property, with the best view, and a chair would be saved for us at the beach.

Sol Caribe Vacation Plan Screwed me...

The hotel and grounds themselves were pretty nice from what I can remember. I stayed there back in 98 I believe when it was the Sol Caribe. The pool area was great and the food was decent. My issues stem from the vacation plan that they kept trying to shove down our throats the whole time we were there. We finally decided to sit through the meeting (just to get them off our backs). It sounded like a pretty good deal, it was a 30 vacation voucher plan and you could stay at various resorts that were related to the Sol Caribe all around the world. I gave them $1700.00 as a down payment on the plan and was supposed to receive my book and membership card within 30-45 days. Well, needless to say I received nothing. I tried contacting the hotel through phone calls and email and they would always say.. "We'll look into it" .. I finally just gave up and wrote it off as a lesson learnt. I guess when you visit foreign countries be careful of what you do because there is no way of taking them to court over disputes like this one.

I went here for spring break with my mom and one of my friends. we payed 750 dollars each for airfare and the all-inclusive. the workers were amazing and so were the wings! they had great food, the rooms were nice, and the pool was great. also the entertainment was unforgetable! snorkeling was amazing and free in the reefs located right infront of the hotel. also, i paid 1500 last year for a week in cancun and wish i would have just gone to park royal instead! it truly is a great inexpensive vacation...
