My Husband and I returned today from a two week holiday at the Park Royal Cozumel and we could not wait to write this review.
We booked this holiday last minute and had never heard of Cozumel before. Upon arrival at the Park Royal we were greeted with a complimentory drink and a fast and easy check in system. The first thing that we noticed about the hotel was the cleanliness, every area was spotless. Each day our bed was stripped and fresh bed linen was applied along with clean bath towels each morning.
Although the beach is man made it is a beautiful spot to spend your days relaxing and the cruise ships that dock there each day makes the view even more spectacular. If you prefer to relax by the pool you will have a choice of three, each with their own pool bar. The main pool is surrounded by green trees and hosts activities such as water polo, aqua aerobics. or if you prefer something quieter then opt for the pools located either side of the beach overlooking the sea.
Although there are plenty of activities during the day the evening entertainment could be better, this was the only down side to the hotel, however it did not spoil our holiday as we met a brilliant group of people.
There are three resturants a Mexican, Italian and a buffet style resturant, food is of excellent quality and there is plenty of choice however if all you eat is chips don't stay here as they were served once in two weeks.
I would suggest that you arrange your own day trips as they can be done for half the price that your rep is selling them for just get a taxi down to the marine and book your desired trip there.
If you want a spotlessly clean, friendly hotel in a good location then this hotel is for you, we would not hesitate to return.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel had beautiful well kept grounds, our rooms were clean and updated furniture. The TV had english cable with CNN, Fox, HBO, etc. which was was a nice surprise. Yes, the lighting in the bathroom is not great for putting on makeup but there is a dresser in the room with all the sunlight you could possibly need. Yes, the beach is small but if you love to snorkel its perfect! We brought our own snorkel gear but no flippers but the hotel let us rent them for $5 per 24hours of use. We rented a car for a day and drove around the island. That was one of the best days there. In a day we drove out to Punta Sur (its a national park where they take the cruise excursion people which your likely to run into; for $10 you have entrace to the park and go up to the top of the lighthouse, see its museum, go snorkeling, and apparently also see crocks and turtles which we opted out of), the Bob Marley bar, and to Cocunuts Restaurant (Amazing food, amazing cost, amazing view - its on a cliff overlooking ocean - and where locals eat). We paid full price for the car rental ($50) because despite numerous offers to get it for a discount price, we refused to sell even 30 minutes of our vacation time. As for the the hotel staff (staff, not timesare salesman), we have absolutly no complaints. The timeshare people are all over the place but if you tell them your not intereted and/or not married, they leave you alone.

Arriving at the airport is pretty tough because we did not pre-pay for shuttle service. I read a cab ride to the hotel was only $7 so i opted against the $16 pre-paid shuttle service. Someone's review said to just walk past all the timeshare shuttle people and go get a taxi, BUT there are no taxis waiting at the airport! We basically had to walk far and leave the airport to find a taxi or figure out something else. I kept asking airport personnel and it seemed like they were all in on it because they all kept directing me to a window with timeshare salesman. So, I listened to the timeshare speech, said no no no, and the FINALLY they showed me where the ticket counter was. That said, if you don't see taxis, the ticket counter is to your right hand side, right as your about to exit the airport. I never saw it, and I was very upset I had to go through so much to find it because no one would just tell me. It was terrible start to the trip, but after that we had a GREAT TIME.

The hotel staff is all extremely friendly as everyone says. If you tip the bartenders, even just a few bucks, they take great care of you. I was amazed at how so many people would spend the entire day at the bar and not tip even once!

And the food was just fine - it wasn't terrible as other people say, but it was also nothing to write home about. I'd describe it as far from the meal you'd receive in a 5 star expensive restaurant (obviously), but also much much better than fast food!

We go to Cozumel once a year because the island is beautiful and the people are very welcoming. We love to stay at the Park Royal because the service is so attentive, it is not overly crowded, the food is very good (even the buffet is excellent) and it has it's own little beach with nice snorkeling. The Park Royal is located closer to town than the huge sprawling resorts. We would be lucky to stay here.

We went to Park Royal hotel for 3 nights and 4 days over the 4th July Holiday weekend, 5 girlfriends in our 40's.

We had a fabulous time, the resort is lovely, the staff friendly and helpful, we were a bit worried by the last few reviews but we had no trouble with our safes or anything going missing.

The two swimup bars at the two infinity pools were our favorite hangout, we went there every day, met some nice people from all over the place but mainly from Texas (like us) and Louisianna and some from UK. Three of us were American and two from the UK orginially so it was a good mix at the resort. The cruise ships where majestic to watch come in and leave, I didn't mind the view.

I cannot stress enough that the food was good, I travel all over the world with my job and have stayed at the Four Season hotels all over the place but its not that standard but its pretty good for a 3 star! wow.

I love to snorkel you can get free equipment there for an hour a day, but we took our own and swam out over the rocks, so no problem on the feet as it does get rocky, saw loads of fish excellent I went in about twice a day sometimes more.

The resort never seemed packed which was nice, we did notice on our last day that they had open up both sides of the buffet restaurant for breakfast, so maybe more people were coming. We ate at the Buffet for breakfast every day very good, we ate at the Buffet for lunch when we arrived and the day we were leaving, we checked out but they let us eat at the buffet before having to head to the airport, very nice of them. We ate at the speciality restaurants every night two times at the Italian (very good) and once at the Mexican (ok) where from Texas so bit picky on the Mexican food.

Rooms were spotlessly clean, we really would have like a mini fridge just to have a cold bottled water in the room, but we found the ice bucket and the ice machine and we did that each evening to keep the water cold. Beds could have been softer, but I have been to Mexico 5 times and never found a soft one yet! ;-)

The only improvement i would suggest is in the evening entertainment, its pretty basic stuff. Disco each evening would be better, there seemed like nothing to do once 10pm came, so we went to bed!

We had a fab time and for the price we got it was well worth it, we all did not want to leave and are already planning this to be an annual getaway.

My husband and I went to Park Royal for the 2nd time in June. I talked 4 family members and 2 friends into going with us this time. Check in this year was much faster than last year. I was not to thrilled that I got 2nd floor and my invited guest got better rooms but I was not going to make it an issue. Rooms could not be any cleaner. Toiletries are pretty bland so bring your own. Shower and vanity are nice and big. Makeup mirror is awesome. Hair dryer is a plus too. I am not a fan of 2 double beds, cousin slipped a $ 20 and got a king. The pools are clean and plentiful. Plenty of places to get an adult beverage or soda. The grounds are kept in tip top shape. The on site night club is nice when you want some late night drinks and dancing. It is what you make it, sometimes kind of quiet. We ate at the reservations restaurants 2 times. The food was pretty good, kinda slow. The buffet is good but sorta repetitive. I loved the breakfast but found myself eating salads at night because the main dishes were to complicated for my palate. The burgers & pizza at the snack bar satisfied all of us. Time share guys are on location but if you are not interested just be polite and say no. I would book this hotel again in a heart beat. I felt very safe and the price was awesome.
