My husband and I spent the first week of February at the Park Royal and we enjoyed our stay. We found the staff very friendly and helpful at all times: from getting a taxi into town, to getting information on tourist attractions.
I read other reviews on this hotel, and in my opinion, each person will have their own experience.
We always had a clean room with clean towels and sheets. We never got a call from the hotel's time share reps. Nor were we disturbed by housekeeping. We used the hotel room what it was meant for: sleeping and showering. After all, we are on holiday and came to see cozumel not the inside of our hotel room. The food was good, by mid week it did repeat itself. However, snack time at the bikini bar is definetly a must.
I highly recommend renting a jeep and driving around the island. It's an experience of a lifetime, to be able to drive along the coast. We visited each stop along the coast. Senor Iguanas makes the best chicken tacos I had on the trip!!!
We did come into contact with the time share reps; and if your able to sit through a 90 minute blab session on time shares, then go for it, the discounted off island excursions are worth it. You save a lot of money.
I had heard the hotel is shutting down in April for 6 months; rumors are it's being converted into a Sheraton.
It's a great place to stay in a beautiful setting. Close to local shopping and with taxi cabs always ready to take you where you need to go.
