“Great choice for value of an all inclusive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2014

To start with let me say, all the staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful. They greeted us with a drink and kept our luggage safely tucked away until check in time as we arrived early. We were able to just hang out at the pool area and have drinks and lunch until our rooms were ready. We were a party of 8 so we had four different rooms, and the rooms were clean and well kept. They provided help to our room with our luggage and when we were leaving as well. Upon leaving, they also kept our luggage and let us keep our wrist bands so we could continue to use the resort until we were able to leave for our next destination. We only had one night here. The infinity pool was incredibly beautiful and I loved seeing all the cruise ships coming in and docking. They actually do not block your view because there is so much ocean to see from the resort, it is only in one area, and again I found it fun! Some of our party snorkeled right off the beach and loved it, one of our party played volley ball and loved it. We danced and had cocktails in one of the bars in the evening and had a wonderful time. I would say the only downfall, was the food. The wait staff was super friendly and attentive, but overall the food at the buffet was not particularly good and pretty much the same foods for lunch and dinner. Two of our party ate at the Italian Restaurant on site. The entertainment at night was lacking. Pretty much the same dancers dancing the same dances with different costumes. But they tried. It was a great value for the money for an all inclusive and the pools were all clean and the infinity pool was truly lovely and the hot tub is cold and fresh water. The rooms were pretty noisey, but we were on the first floor. Overall, I would rate this resort highly as we cannot always have perfection in everything. I do think for an all inclusive the fitness room should be free instead of a $6.00 charge. That was definitely not worth it. The grounds are well kept up and lovely. The staff all worked hard and making it an enjoyable time.

Room Tip: Try to get up on a higher level. We had to be on the first floor, and just viewed the courtyard. Th...

Loved this resort!! Beautiful location! Rooms were very nice- not overly plush but how often are you in the room- A/C gets very cold in the room and the beds were comfortable. Nice size bathroom and had plenty of hot water. 3 very fun pools-2 of them are infinity pools. Beach is not huge but it is a private very nice beach. Lots of flowing drinks. Bar tenders are great at serving the guests. And no matter what drink order we threw at them they knew the drink and made it very well. And if you wanted 1, 2 or 10 drinks they would give you how many you wanted. All of the staff were very nice and accommodating to all the guests. One thing I will take with me next time I go is a clock for the room. The food in the buffet was good but we went in town and ate dinner because we enjoy eating the local foods. (Big referral of a place to eat is Wet Wendy's- great food and awesome margaritas!!!) We did not eat at the Italian and Mexican restaurants at the resort but heard from others that the food was good at both of them.
My only 2 complaints are:
1. The sales people for the time share are very nice but are very persistent. If you don't want to spend the hour listening to their sales pitch just tell them no and walk on.
2. My biggest complaint is that the 2 pool side bars close by 8pm. I really would have enjoyed watching the sunset or spend an evening after dinner by the pool or in the whirlpool. Personally i think they should close at 10pm. The sports bar is open til 2am so there is still access to drinks but at the pool would have been nice.
But even with those 2 complaints we will go back there ASAP!!!

we had reservations at El Cid La Ceiba. However, when we arrived they said they did not have a room for us and they moved us across the street to Park Royal with an all inclusive package due to the inconvenience. I am sooo glad this happened. Park Royal was much better, plus not having to pay for food and drinks was excellent. The resort is amazing...three pools and two (not so temperature hot) hot tubs plus its right on the beach with free snorkeling equipment for one hr a day. Service is amazing and I have never seen a hotel keep up with it's maintenance so well. I only had two minor complaints and that was wi-fi is $15 a day which you have to buy a card for and the deli (snack) shop only took pesos. This resort is not large compared to others but I found its smaller more intimate size to be charming with many qualities and a lot to offer. There are time share sales on site but we didnt even know they were there.

Room Tip: our room was located directly in the main open area of the hotel which is in a hallway that is open...

We would definitly stay here again! From the second we arrived until the day we left we were treated very well. Great views from our room, Food was good, Grounds were well kept.
Only negative thing would be in the room you can hear everything that goes on in the hallway. It can be very loud when people are coming and going.

Room Tip: Make sure you upgrade! To get a awesome view!

Prior to our trip we expected that the beach would be the way as it is shown on the pictures. So we didn't really expect more or for it to be the most amazing beach out there. But let me tell you, it was a really nice and tranquil spot for anyone who likes simplicity. I loved the people that works at park royal resort because they're authentic, very friendly, hard working and kind people. Our room was nice, just overall comfortable and definitely way better than the last hotels I've stayed in before. The food was so good! We loved it! It was satisfying and there's a lot of different selections/varieties. Most favorite part of it was the fresh fruits! And like I said before the people that works there are hard working especially the servers, they take their job serious. Overall, the best stay/vacation. We're king back for sure!

The best way to sum this resort up is, "The little resort that wants to play with the big boys", (and charge the big boy prices).
Everything about this resort is about 1/5th of what we're use to at other resorts. The first thing that hits you when you see the grounds, pools, buffet and beach size is , "Where's the rest of it"? The food was wonderful but extremely limited. The beach - pathetic and rocky.
Charging for room-safes and internet - are you kidding me?
We knew going in that there was no in- room mini fridge, but weren't aware there was a 'no food or beverage' policy in the rooms. As well, it seemed as though we were basically 'told' when we could and could not eat by the set times of food access. Crowd control by use of food works well with children at summer camp, old folks homes and prison, but in an all-inclusive resort?!?!?
Time share sellers were not a huge problem, but when we requested a room upgrade, (or anything else) we were told they had exactly what we needed for every and anything, BUT first we had to view their time share presentation. (We can do for you if and only IF you do for me first). What happened to the customer coming first? We found the idea of hanging bonuses over our heads like a carrot for anything they wanted, tacky.
As many others have written, the constant BANG in the walls from the air conditioning unit was unbearable.
On the plus side, the place was perfectly clean and the non-time share level employees very friendly and seemed genuinely happy.
All in all, a heavy disappointment.

The place was very nice. The people there were extremely friendly. They work very very hard. The time share people were not a problem as people had said. There was always people working on keeping the resort clean. The rooms were nice and the beds were very comfortable also. The food on the buffet was what we had expected, it was good but after 7 days it started to blend together. The fancy restaurants had good food but be sure to make a reservation. The nightly entertainment was what we thought it would be, if you missed it that would not be the end of the world. The pools were great but here is a tip for people that haven't been to someplace like this. You have to get up early, by 7am to be able to get a great spot at one of the pools or the beach to put your towel on a chair so that you have some place to get great sun. I have only a couple of negatives about this place. 1st- if you have trouble walking the stone pathways/walkways are very uneven and are tough to walk on. 2- The elevator to get from the lobby to the ground floor area is very slow and only one person at a time can use it.

Room Tip: Asking for a room upgrade will not help. They save the best rooms/ top floors for the time share gue...
